Don't get me wrong, Slots & Daggers is a neat game. The aesthetics and atmosphere are absolutely terrific. The gameplay is easy to understand and progress. It does a solid job of exploring the possible mechanics of having slot symbols that correspond to RPG actions.

Don't get me wrong, Slots & Daggers is a neat game. The aesthetics and atmosphere are absolutely terrific. The gameplay is easy to understand and progress. It does a solid job of exploring the possible mechanics of having slot symbols that correspond to RPG actions.
That being said, the gameplay is dirt simple, and often times, the game is really playing itself. The game requires you to grind metaprogression before the game is winnable, and once you have all of the unlocks, you don't really have to enact any kind of strategy to win. Just buy upgrades and powerups and you'll probably win. Arguably, it's no longer even a roguelike at that point, it's just an RPG.
Despite that, I can loosely recommend this game. It's alright. I think I would give it a 4 star rating if the gameplay loop felt more fun amidst the metaprogression grinding, but I could only really say it was alright.
