This game presents itself with a mystery but the gameplay is really just a walking sim following highlighted clues. It's fine for that but not quite what I expected. The story is definitely creepy and just has a great atmosphere over all, as well a mild jump scare or two. Still, it offers very little input from the player and no replayability, which kind of matters because it's short at 3-4 hours.
I can rate it on its visual and atmospheric presentation as pretty good but with some drawbacks.
INFORMATIONAL:
The Steam page AI disclosure reads as follows:
All assets, voices, music, characters, and story in this game were created by humans. However, AI tools were used for some decorative textures and minor details. Although their use is minimal, they are visually present and may bother people sensitive to this topic.
For 90% of the game, this is an enthralling, atmospheric story, reminiscent of the better Sherlock Holmes games. An absolute treat to play, easy to immerse in.
And then it abruptly ends, in possibly the most contrived and unimpressive way possible, and it feels quite soured.
Throughout playing, I kept updating my partner "wow, I really love this game, it's been a lot of fun to experience." And now I have to go tell her, this might be the most jarring (due to no tension or buildup) and unsatisfying ending I have ever experienced in a game I was enjoying.
I would still recommend the game, but I'd also caution that the ending is just very sudden and feels very forced and cheapens the overall experience.
