Cult Vacui is a game heavily inspired by scriptwelder’s Don’t Escape game series. You play as man defending an island from a cult that is attempting to resurrect an ancient deity. There is a time mechanic, and many of the actions you do eat into this time. By the end, you need to defend yourself from the cult and hope you did all you could to survive.

It is extremely similar to Don’t Escape: 4 Days to Survive - just this time with occult themes rather than apocalyptic themes. The puzzles are solid, strategizing your path will take some saves and loads and a bit of patience, but I enjoyed figuring it out.

Artwork is also great, almost calling to mind The Last Door series. Narrative and dialogue are serviceable, though the side characters got a bit chatty for my taste and I ended up spam clicking through it. But all around a very solid game in an extremely niche subgenre, of which I am only aware of two games. Check it out!
