Playing the demo with most of the higher difficulty settings like stronger monsters on, and it feels about right in terms of challenge. There's still a bunch of modern day quality of life/accessibility features I'm a little iffy on however:
-Characters revive at 1 HP after battles. I'm not sure if this is necessary. It certainly cuts back some of the tension of hoarding revival items, and the use of MP heavy healing spells in longer dungeons, but I'll probably get over it pretty quickly.
-You have immediate access to a free Zoom spell to go to previously visited places, so what's the point of Chimera Wing items that do the same thing? The main character who has it will also be auto revived after battles anyway. This seems silly unless we somehow lose the main character or the Zoom spell later on.
-The Party Chat Available function seems to have been introduced a little clumsily, at least for the intro part of the game. Party chats with each character reminders will appear after a certain trigger and it's very often just them repeating what you were just told. They also come up for each party member, and they use their "Hey!" audio cue for it way too frequently to the point that that audio cue gets obnoxious. Sure you can just ignore these prompts but then the FOMO creeps in making you wonder if you're missing some good unique character dialogue this time around. I think one solution would be to simply stagger these party chats to gradually be available after X time on the in game clock after the event trigger that would make them available. At least this way you don't have a cutscene suggesting we go to X place and then have several immediate reminder conversations about needing to go to X place.
Otherwise, the game looks great and the pacing feels just about right to gradually build up to this bigger, large scale adventure. I'm excited to eventually get new job class options to play with and see how the plot expands.
