Standalone Expansion for Shadowrun Returns

The start was strange, no HUD exept 2 buttons, one with the "power" On/Off logo... i though it was to quit the game. Finaly i was looking for my inventory but it was here. Maybe i would play it if it had voices instead of text and eventualy with some other languages... But actualy, it's a simple turn by turn RPG in a modern and fantasy world. Still did that...
Longer and more fleshed out than the first. Still quite buggy and combat tends to be very slow.
Separate story. A few new features and ideas thrown in. About what you would expect. Overall I didn't like the story in this one as much, however it did have a satisfying twist and decent enough ending. A lot of bugs and things are smoothed out. Visually it looks more or less the same (that I can recall, I didnt notice much difference) The setting takes place in Germany, and your base of operations has a rather nice feel compared to the first. At least, I preferred it. The dialogue is a bit more verbose (branching) and trees expanded a bit as far as how you can use your skills compared to the first. (More Etiquette options etc)
Story is closely intertwined with the events that are well-known to every Shadowrun fan, but at the same time the game tells us everything we should know about common Shadowrun lore. This makes Dragonfall a perfect entry point into the vast Shadowrun community, covering both CRPG and board game.
Combat, while been criticized for its simplicity, is fairly competent. it is paying close attention to Shadowrun-specific features such as Matrix or different types of magic. Some combat situations are surprisingly well-thought and require harmonious team work – while your samurais throw some lead into enemies across the hall, shaman summons demons, and decker hacks enemy security system fighting ICs in virtual reality.
Overall, Shadowrun: Dragonfall is a pretty good game. If you like cyberpunk style (despite multiple fantasy tropes that is another Shadowrun feature), you shouldn't miss it.
I really want to like this game. The world is fantastic, the story seems interesting, and the roleplaying elements are strong... But I can't get over how cheap it feels. Consistently. The music is boring, the graphics are frankly terrible, and without voice acting or any audio "oomph," the experience is just a snooze fest.
If this game were just a narrative roleplaying sort of experience, like one where you could just explore, I could probably meander through it... But it's the glacially slow combat system that really kills it. I feel like playing the tabletop version would actually be faster.
Oh well. I impulse bought the trilogy because a video on the lore of the tabletop really sold me on Shadowrun as an idea, but the game version here--and I say this having tried both Returns and Dragonfall--is just woefully lacking. I feel like maybe fans might get a kick out of it? Very hard to recommend otherwise, unless you have an absurd amount of patience for jank.
Oh, and it has this consistent glitch where two music tracks will play at the same time for no reason. An assault on the ears.
My God! I am so enjoying this game. If you like XCOM, you will love this game. I'd never even heard of it until recently. The game mechanics have so much depth, yet I don't feel like I can't grasp how it all works. It's great. Sometimes the dialogue can be a little long. However it is well written and interesting. Love it!
Trying to play this, but just choking through it. I didn't like Shadowrun Returns, either, and I had heard this was a better version. Doesn't look that way. Just ALT+F4'd out after losing a particularly long and annoying combat encounter. I don't think I'll be loading it up again. Uugh. I love the Shadowrun world, but time and time again their games just suck.
