Mh... meh? It tries very much to be a Parasite Eve clone, but the atmosphere just isn't there.
Beat demo on my bazzite install. Got about half way before it crashed in the menu, and the menu had awful framerate for that entire session. Playing again on different day the game started off at terrible framerate but it all fixed after opening the menu. Entire session was smooth after that. I noticed rooms on the map changed from red to green to show there was nothing left to find, so I missed something in the early streets. It was interesting having a melee attack since Parasite Eve did not, though you had to be literally touching the monsters before attacking. Pistol range was terrible too, more like what would be realistic for melee. I took a lot of damage and barely made it past the crash, even dying on the 1st battle of session 2 (which was before the crash). 1 battle on a narrow walkway was particularly bad because there was not enough room to avoid attacks. I had to use the super beam attack but that was after taking a bunch of hits. The crash actually happened while using the menu to heal from near death, so once I got past that and used more bullets …

I used 1 mp item and 0 antidotes. I did find the smg hidden behind a weak wall, thanks more to the suspicious cardboard boxes that taught me the environment could be destructible. The boss was not difficult, I used 2 beams and 1 healing item while circle strafing and shooting in between its attacks.
Should be an interesting game when it comes out. The combat could be faster with less time waiting and I am not a fan of the + items that enhance weapons and armor. I'd rather they put weapon attachments and ammo types instead of arbitrary rpg item stat boosts. I hope there will be voice acting and a better story than mitochondria.
