Hilarious and chaotic experience, and really fun with friends
This review is for the PC (Microsoft Windows) version

I liked RV There Yet?. It is a physics-based game in which you need to drive an RV van from your campsite at the lake, all the way to the highway in order to go home. To do so, you need to work together to drive the RV, carefully navigate over impossible terrain and keeping the vehicle repaired and drivable.

You start as four, fat little dudes that just finished their vacation by the lake. From this point on, it is free for all on how you decide to proceed. Get right into the van, walk along the road a bit to scout ahead or just collect useless hats, beer, mugs or darts.

When driving the RV, you follow a fixed path with many obstacles, broken bridges, pits, swamps and even a volcano. You find planks to make bridges, use your towing line to push and pull the van over difficult terrain and use mad driving skills to keep the van on the road. Along the way, you encounter checkpoints to save your progression until that point. Something I was really grateful for, because you will die a lot. Not only from the wildlife attacks, fall damage or fire, but …

You find planks to make bridges, use your towing line to push and pull the van over difficult terrain and use mad driving skills to keep the van on the road. Along the way, you encounter checkpoints to save your progression until that point. Something I was really grateful for, because you will die a lot. Not only from the wildlife attacks, fall damage or fire, but also because one wrong move will send the RV into the deepest pits of the abyss, immediately failing the game.

The graphics in RV There Yet? are goofy, cartoonish and colorful. Despite being very simple, the environment actually looks quite nice, and a sense of calm is created with the rivers, trees and forests. That is, until the van comes crashing down from a cliff and everyone panics.

The sound effects and music are calm and atmospheric. They just work. Control wise is where this game stand out, good and bad. The good part is that they are responsive and fairly accurate, the bad news is that one wrong turn can make you lose all control of the vehicle and the only way to progress is to accept defeat and try again.

There is a strategic element to this game where you collect food, antidote, spare parts and scrap, and keep it stored inside the many cabinets inside the RV. This way, you can prepare for the many dangers and failures ahead.

RV There Yet? is not perfect and has many, many bugs and glitches. This sometimes results in your van being catapulted into space, because it was stuck inside a rock. But the glitches in this game are funny, rather than annoying.

This game is a lot of fun with friends, and the laughs, chaos, ridiculous outfits and roleplaying is the main reason why it is so good. It will never get boring trying another run and for the low price, I say this is a very enjoyable experience.

I would definitely recommend this game.

Fun with friends

Played a fair part of it with my brother, we're def gonna play more! It feels a bit clunky to play, it's difficult as hell right of the gate. But damn it's pretty fun, and so enjoyable to goof around with your friends in. A "streamer game" as the kids would say I believe.

RV There Yet? is like if the camping simulator Firewatch and the hiking simulator Peak had a child. It looks like Firewatch and has the coop gameplay and heap up your friend and stamina-bar mechanic of Peak. One of the more original friendslop games around right now.

Having a real fun time with this! I've only done one road trip so far but in that short space of time we've laughed more times than I can count, which is always a hallmark of a good time for me!

enter image description here

I suppose it's another entry into the recent explosion of PC co-op games where you work together to get through an area, it's like Peak but with a giant off-road RV!

In the 2 hours I've played we've fallen off cliffs, built sketchy bridges out of planks, had our RV ripped apart by a bear, launched ourselves off ramps listening to techno, and cooked burgers on a bbq.

enter image description here

I'm also really liking the systems going on here; you've got stuff to repair with different tools, food and drink to consume, a radio to control with tapes to find, a winch system to help get you out of tricky spots, and a killer storage system which lets you mount planks, ramps, oil, beer, whatever to your RV roof, interiors, and side panels.

It's goofy, it's relaxed, but it's also got a lot going on to keep you engaged. Pretty cheap at the moment too and definitely worth checking out if …

It's goofy, it's relaxed, but it's also got a lot going on to keep you engaged. Pretty cheap at the moment too and definitely worth checking out if you have someone you regularly game with, or a group (I'd also be down for a road trip if anyone needed someone to play with!).
