It is, of course, very classic... since it literally continues to be a game that defined (and still defines) many of the RPGs that came after it.
The music was good once again. I did wish it had a few more themes here and there, but overall it’s still great work.
The story is very… direct. It picks up right where Dragon Quest III left off, so it was nice to see some of those plotlines continue.
I honestly thought it would be easier. I played this one completely blind, and at times I got stuck trying to piece things together. Some bosses kicked my ass several times before I could move forward, and I only discovered certain gameplay mechanics later in the game.
That said, it’s streamlined, short, and sweet, and I think that’s exactly what makes it strong.
