A lovely heartwarming game about communication and friendship
This review is for the PC (Microsoft Windows) version

FInd Your Words is another great game from Capybara Games, a studio that seems to define definition as any sort of single genre adherent. Find Your Word is about as far from something like Below as you can get, but Copy’s passion and charm shine through everything they do.

Find Your Word is about a non-verbal child who has arrived at Camp Pal for their very first day of camp. Being non-verbal they are given a communication binder. Your task, as the player, is to fill that binder with symbols that you can then use, in various combinations, to communicate with your fellow campers.

The game is a very lots cross between A Short Hike and Alba, with activities such as bird spotting to scavenger hunts that are reminiscent of the outdoor adventures from both those two games. It also shares a somewhat crunch yet cute aesthetic with those games that I think many may find appealing.

Despite being a short game, Find Your Words contains a significant intersection of themes, from diversity and disability to communication, cooperation and friendship. The game is the quintessential wholesome title, one that even manages to eschew the off putting capitalistic tendencies of …

Despite being a short game, Find Your Words contains a significant intersection of themes, from diversity and disability to communication, cooperation and friendship. The game is the quintessential wholesome title, one that even manages to eschew the off putting capitalistic tendencies of a lot of what gets branded wholesome. It’s a game that speaks in simple but powerful terms and that can be a useful guide for young children who may be encountering interaction with other children, with diverse groups that have diverse needs and diverse interests. Adults may find the game a bit too simple in that regard, but it’s is a fantastic way to introduce these concepts to children through example, practice and reinforcement rather than didacticism. For these reasons I think Find Your Words might be one of the most wholesome games I’ve played.

The game is free, so there isn’t much risk in checking it out, and you’ll likely be done within an hour. It was a nice diversion from my cold induced headache, a pleasure on an otherwise lousy day, and I’m happy I picked it up and gave it a chance.

Find Your Words is really cute. You play a non-verbal character who uses symbols to communicate with the other children at camp and complete different activities. Everything you do is really heartwarming and wholesome with some really touching moments.

Oh wow Capy’s new game, Find Your Words, is out and it’s free on Stream. There is a supporter pack, which I’m probably going to pick up because Capy devs are some of the nicest devs I’ve had the pleasure of talking with. For the fact that they seem like a decent bunch of people, and I was excited for Find Your Words I have no qualms about kicking them the $5 for the supporter pack.

Also excited for a Short Hike-like by another Toronto studio. All the best Short Hike games come form here it seems 😉
