Finally got around to watching the trailers from Game Awards, including the one for Divinity.
My first reaction to the trailer was that it was...something, though I'm not really sure I enjoyed it 😕. The level of butchery & prolonged suffering (with an orgy in the foreground no less) was really over the top. I read a follow-up article in which the studio said they were being intellectually respectful (not 'shocking'), but I think that's just intellectually dishonest. I'm no prude, but the extreme close-ups of gore were clearly meant to leave a impression and their remarks seem like an attempt at post-hoc justification, assigning thematic intent to material that was clearly designed to provoke attention.
My second reaction was that I was surprised The Game Awards green-lit that for the show. They've always had glow-ups for games with various degrees of violence of course, but if you gotta run an actual red-band trailer warning that something is definitely not for kids on a show you know has very large underage audience, maybe you shouldn't run it.
