I like the ding after I do stuff.... also I like it when the numbers go up 🙃☺️

OK joking aside, the most compelling thing about Habitica is also the sole reason why I could never recommend it to anyone who isn't already playing it. It's as though I am designing my own game, creating rewards for tasks I've done, play testing through real life and balancing it out over time. This isn't a Videogame, it's a life style, a commitment. And I don't say that to sound dramatic, this shit really has changed the way I approach day to day tasks.

The thing is I blame that more on my nueroticism than the actual game itself. This feels like Minecraft in the sense that it more facilitates than entertains. You kind of decide how much you're gonna get out of this and for most people I can fully understand why that's just 'not for you' but... It Really Works For Me.

I don't think it's perfect, far from it but I think the bones for a genuinely "real life" changing experience are here with a game that creates incentives for you to make the decisions you've always wanted to make and break the habits you've always wanted to break. I'm going along for the ride but at the end of the day I know that I'm the one on the steering wheel, to some people that's comforting, to others that's disconcerting. I haven't decided how I feel about it yet.

PS. The pet system is garbage and completely underutilized, I wish they would just let me breed and sell the fuckers instead of feeding them and just looking at them
