I'm a big fan of these short horror games. This reminded me of Inside, which is one of my favorite games. I did hate the cell phone component of this game and eventually stopped reading the texts altogether. The story was good. Overall, this was a win.

I was a bit skeptical about this game but still went in bc it sounded nice. Like 2 levels in this mf glitches and makes it impossible to progress. A shame really but i wasn't feeling it enough to try and fix it

Loved it, but is one of those games that give you a tonne (metric) of food for thought but nothing public-review-worthy. But do go read Prin's review. Their words are far better than mine.

I have two observations, though.

One is that I do hope that SWERY eventually learns how to code. It's clear that he has the creative stuff, but his games are all stiff and even kinda buggy.

Another is that (and do mind the spoiler here) it's a bit fucked up that "post game JJ" is the male JJ. In video-game language, that kind of post-ending stuff is usually a reward or some form of indicating that the hero (in the true literary sense of the word) has gone to some transformation and now you can restart the journey using that new "improved" form. By that interpretation, playing as male JJ feels really shitty. I'm sure is not meant with malice, but still. Even under the most charitable interpretation, it felt incredibly uncomfortable for the game to do that. It felt akin to dead-naming. I might be overly sensitive or I might even be misinterpreting the story, but there you go. 🤷️

Today I've been too busy to play, but I cannot stop thinking about going back and finishing The Missing.

Oh, boy. Reading those text messages makes me so anxious. I know what they are going to say, and I know that there are real people in the world who think that and real people who have to suffer for that. It makes me sad, angry and I want to nuke everything from orbit.

Played a bit of the demo. The platforming feels floaty and stiff, but the puzzle elements are neat and I liked the overall feel.

I don't really know what I want to say about this other than that I want so say something. This game took hold of me from beginning to end and lever let go. There isn't all that much I can actually say about the story without spoiling something, but I'll say it has been one of the strongest story experiences I have had with video games for a very long time. It all just clicked for me, and I really hope someone else out there will have a similar experience with this.

Also, the gameplay mechanics are pretty unique, something that only adds to the experience in more ways than one.

I am going for a second playthrough at my first opportunity as I have a feeling there are some interactions that went unnoticed the first time through. But right now I have to play something happy.
