Now that the new set has started, I have seen lots of complaints that people miss how that prior one was and say this one is boring, which ironically to me was a signal that I should probably check it out. The game has built up more and more layers of complexity over the years to a point where some people say they can't imagine the game without those ideas. While certain additions really help keep the game interesting, I think it hit a critical mass at some point in the not-distant past after which it's just too much to keep track of with constant balance updates and meta shifts, and unfortunately the expectations have been set high enough that just a new iteration of solid familiar gameplay is seen as a disappointment by many. Personally I'm happy to get something a little easier to get a grip on this time, as someone who can't play as much anymore as I used to and doesn't really plan to keep up with all the developments or go far in ranked again, and I found it clicked and felt fun right away.
