I'm not the first, and I won't be the last, to say that I was disappointed by this game. And the reason doesn't solely lie in my expectations (coming from 'Everlasting Summer'); it's all about the game's story itself.
Let's start with the pros of this game. First of all, I really like the "skip" button. Yeah, no joke, it works really well. It's fast and reliable, allowing me to skip those "stupid arguing" scenes. However, I still had to read them for the first time.
Secondly, the animations. Now the game has smooth animations that look really cool. You can see how the characters' emotions change after certain answers (although 90% of the time it's a sad face), their body movements, and more. It might be a small change, but it really caught my eye.
The music is also good, but I can't remember a song that I wanted to download or found myself singing multiple times (or even once).
Now, let's talk about the cons. To make it clear, at the moment I'm writing this review, I've read 3/4 of the good endings. You might ask, "What? If you're reading this game, it must mean that you like it." But let's discuss it further.
I could say that the story itself is interesting. Each route has some unexpected turns that make the reading more interesting. However, all of that breaks down in the dialogues. These dialogues start in the beginning and follow you throughout the whole game.
That's why I mentioned the skip button before. I promise you, if I couldn't somehow skip these (let me be polite) "unwanted talks," I would have deleted the game after the first route. This game is all about the main character arguing with the whole world, making everyone cry and keeping resentment towards him, only for it to disappear after a few minutes like nothing happened. Seriously, you made a girl cry? Wait 2 minutes, and then go talk to her about what's for dinner. You yelled at your friend? Wait 1 hour, and then ask him to borrow money. Why not? We all live in society, and it's not just about the main character. Other characters do it too, and it looks so stupid.
A special mention is reserved for the main character's ex-girlfriend. That's something that follows you on ALL routes (sometimes less, sometimes more) and just doesn't allow you to play the game normally. You try to pay all your attention to one girl, and SUDDENLY, the ex-girlfriend calls you, and you leave all your work behind and run towards your heart-breaking girl. And I don't even want to mention that everybody in the game (even those who don't leave their houses and cut all wires) will know what you've done, and you WILL argue with them that "it was just a talk." Damn...
I don't regret spending time and money on this game, but I wouldn't recommend buying or reading it. If you're interested, you can download it somewhere and read the story online instead.
