What a splendid little game. I'm glad I gave this one a chance despite thinking the B/W aesthetic would be too monotone. It wasn't. The game has so much charm and rewards the player for taking the scenic route to explore every nook and cranny and angle. I appreciated the game not having any missable collectables or achievements. I do wish there was a way to add filters to photos that have already been taken but otherwise found Toem a flawless experience. The free DLC adding a day/night cycle looked fantastic and felt so festive.

TOEM is frequently compared to A Short Hike, a game that I really, really loved. I think that's a fair comparison: Both are short, relaxed adventures set in surprisingly large worlds filled with silly characters, rendered in purposefully lo-fi art styles and building to concise but satisfying endings. But its gameplay reminds me more of Hidden Folks and Alba: A Wildlife Adventure (which I also enjoyed). If you like any of those, you should give this a shot!
what a nice little game. toem is the perfect game to boot up in between some of your more involved, high-energy games. collecting everything and completing your collection is so easy, addictive, and fun that you'll find yourself easily motivated to do everything this game has to offer. it's a fun game to platinum on playstation and the adventure you go on is just very refreshing.
you can really tell there was a lot of passion put into this game and it doesn't drag on for too long. the game is on the shorter side, but i think it works in its favor as a journey where you'll take many pictures and meet many different characters. you can really only get the most out of this game one time as once you learn everything, you know everything - but it's a great time. i would highly recommend this to anyone who just wants a chill game to play for a few hours that was clearly crafted with a lot of care.
Genuinely, no notes. This was a joy to play front to back. I did all the in game achievements in one sitting with virtually no guide (there's one really obscure one). It took 5 hours and at no point was I bored or wanted to be anywhere but sitting there playing this game. It was just pure fun.
It's a very cozy game and maybe the best I've played in that genre. I fully intend to jump back in tomorrow to do the free postgame update content. If you like relaxed gameplay and/or taking photos of a bunch of things along with some light sidequesting, play this. I got it for free from someone else's code on GOG but I'm thinking I'm going to purchase it on Steam anyway to support the devs because they deserve it.
Does it happen to you that you finish a game, see the credits and you're ready to stand up when, suddenly... THERE'S MORE! Usually, for me, this feels awful. It feels like the game "took" the victory from me (I'm looking at you, Furi). It doesn't matter how good it was or how long or short it was. I was done and if I wanted to keep playing to get the platinum or beat it again, it should be my choice, not a "gotcha" from the game.
But when I finished TOEM and it turned out there was an extra level to explore, I was delighted and couldn't wait to see what it was.
That's enough review for it. Obviously, I went out of my way to get 100% in both the base game and that free expansion.
The best game to get a cup of coffee...on a rainy day to just relax and play. There is nothing much to say.... its beautiful and entertaining throughout. My only complaint is that its kinda short. For the price (in india) i dont mind it but i dont know if everyone has the same opinion.
Wonderful game clearly made with a lot of love from a small indie studio, has some very creative game mechanics and some beautiful original songs too. It's a bit short around 4-5 hours but well polished and really relaxing. Also I think little kids would love this game.
This game was a pleasant surprise to play. I love the aesthetic of the game. The black and white is a nice touch. I played this on the PS5 and everything just pops. The gameplay loop and puzzle was really thought out.
If you have ps plus extra or the switch (on the OLED will probably look immaculate).
Definitely play this.
I got 100% completion and would have loved to keep playing if there was more to do. Each area is fun and unique, as is each quest. Despite being greyscale, it is visually appealing as well. I really enjoyed running around such a fun environment, with an interesting camera mechanic that made it feel like an exploration search-and-find game.
Just a lovely play. So cute, so thoughtful and with such a unique style. Absolute feel-good title.

Not only was this game immensely fun, it was light hearted, whimsical and full of charm. The scavenger hunting / puzzle solving was so well done and the many tasks were varied in difficulty so you never felt stuck with nothing to accomplish. The art style and character interactions were both so lovely and added so much to the overall tone and vibe of the game. I could not put this game down and truly loved the experience of running around, taking to people and taking pictures of anything and everything!
Overall, TOEM is a remarkable take on the photography game genre, if it is a genre at all. You take pictures both to progress in the game and for your own pleasure, with each shot further strengthening your link to the in-game world and its delightful characters. While it's predominantly a happy-go-lucky experience, there are some poignant moments, and it's a game that could stay in your heart long after you beat it.
Contenido wholesome, te paseas con tu cámara y vas haciendo fotos mientras exploras un mundo muy simpático con música bonita de fondo. Muy sencillo, pero funciona muy bien.
4.5, I beat this and platinumed it in one night and it was a marvelous time.
I was browsing through my backlog and found this one on my list of free games I got from Epic Games Store.
Just played it for about an hour and it is delightful.
Free @ Epic this week:
The B/W aesthetic initially felt too monotone for me but I would like to give this one a go. My partner owns it so I'm going to borrow it from his Steam library. Maybe I can impress him with my photography skills (since he's a photographer).
I’ve completed the main game with a platinum trophy! Now I’m onto Basto 🎉
