What a fun game! Setting up your own game is super fun, playing with friends is super fun, and the scenarios are super fun! What a game!
One of the best installments to the Civ series. What it originally lacked it made up for in expansions. Still a great game to spend your life in ;)
Paying road maintenance tax is too damn realistic in a Civ game. In all the others terraforming the surface of the planet to be one giant spiderweb of roads is just what good workers should be doing in their spare time.
I do not think that Civ V has improved on Civ IV at all. I gave Civ V an enthusiastic chance and I even played it throughout listening to an audiobook for The Holy Bible. I find that the unit tiles being spaced apart and the softer 3D models for the units gives the game a simpler feel that is less of a Human Race simulation and more of a strategy board game. The details of the tiles and resources lack the natural detail that Civ IV has. Civilization always feels addictive, but I found that Civ V achieves being addictive while subtly softening the educational value of the previous games.
I found the late game to feel empty and it seems like every game will end in mech unit domination. I recommend Sid Meier's Civilization IV: Beyond the Sword.
I'm gritting my teeth holding back consumerist hunger to buy a laptop to play Civilization with my father in law.
A good game to pass the time when you have nothing to do. In this fantastic sandbox accompanied by a beautiful soundtrack the player can choose various factions where over time he can expand, having along the way allies and enemies, among others, where in the end there are several ways to win the game.
This was a great iteration of the series that had a few fundamental things that needed to be addressed. In this, its original form, it was a very, very good, but not quite great game. Subsequent DLC turned it into a masterpiece, by far the best in this storied series. I put hundreds of hours into this game. Get the complete edition and say goodbye to the real world for a while. (Venice ftw!)
I mean. It's Civ 5. It is what it is. lol. It's the best of its kind. So. *shrug*
