While it's competently made like the base game underneath it is, this DLC doesn't really bring a lot of new stuff to the table. It's two chapters. One re-uses all the assets from Chapter 3 in the main game; and you get a few quick cameos from the base game characters. The second chapter takes place in a couple of new (yet very samey) corridors in the Shinra building.

The VR combat simulator & box smashing minigames are back, and are even less fun than ever. And there's an all new tower defense minigame that tries to be FF7R's blitzball. It's also not very fun.

To start, I'm also a little creeped out by how horny the game designers were when they made underage main character Yuffie, running around with her pants undone and whatnot. You play the whole DLC as Yuffie as she's trying to steal some "super materia" from Shinra. All the while, events of the main game take place in the background. What little story there is in the DLC mostly focuses around your companion dude who you meet a third of the way through (and whose name I straight-up cannot remember). And weirdly, when you finish the DLC, you get a ~30 second Yuffie-DLC ending cutscene, and then an additional 5-10 minutes of epilogue cutscenes for the main game that don't involve Yuffie at all.

Whatever, it's fine. Not sure if it's worth the full $20 though.

Quite mediocre. There is just something about this recent Square Enix style of voice acting and animation that isn't jiving with me. I want to say it's more anime, but the Voice Actors aren't really speaking in anime styles, but I don't know enough about other anime to compare it against.

Gameplay is almost identical to FF7 Remake, it is flashy but doesn't provide much mechanical depth. It is satisfying to watch and staggers are still a fun moment to proc, but it is so rare in most enemies.

Also, STOP DOING MID-FIGHT CUTSCENE TRANSITIONS IN THE MIDDLE OF LIMIT BREAKS!!!

I realized that I never got around to playing INTERmission, and with the bonus materia you can grab for Rebirth, I realized I should pop in to register a save file. Well, now I’m having fun (Yuffie was my favourite party member back in the day) and I might have to put off officially starting Rebirth, lol.
