Definitely a unique title screen for a text adventure
I always like the straightforward colors of the Spectrum. The font was nice too. But I didn't include this in my rating, because my Spectrum version didn't really have graphic screens (?)

Based on my ratings of the earlier Artic Adventures, they are very hit-or-miss. This is my first text adventure of 1984, tho it is unclear its exact release date so others from 1984 certainly could predate it. The desert canyon thirst factor was a bit annoying, but for a text adventure, not very frustrating nor irritating nor RNG-tacky! Nice. And you know me, I always like when deaths in text adventures can be avoided by your actions/items-retrieval. Plus, collecting items like Scimitars and Rubies always makes me happy in text adventures :-p Thank goodness for maps though!

I liked revealing the "secret" path by cutting away the undergrowth with the axe. And I liked the bananas-for-a-vine-from-a-monkey item retrieval/trade that gave me Zelda Link's Awakening vibes. At first, I found this boring, well not boring but just mediocre/typical, but it grew on me as the adventure continued.

Yay, short and sweet!
By no means is this one of the best text adventures or anything like that, but it's a nice solid start to '84 text adventures for me. Short, straightforward, and enjoyable. Not too many frustrations, understandable deaths (tho some of the puzzles were silly like the Pole to save you from the floor that opens up), and creative enough. Doesn't stand out in the sea of 70s and 80s text adventures, but also is a good one to return to if ever want a straightforward fun playthrough.
