Nothing special, but cute enough. Gets a bit of a boost for being a text adventure.

Really Rudimentary parser, but surprisingly fun and concise. I loved the font and I mean the graphics were not special but had a cute quality to them. Surprised this, a generic Robin Hood tale, proved to be the first text adventure I fully engaged with in a long while! Like most Speccy text adventures, the typing gets a bit frustrating as a fast typer, and the drawing segments drag down the vibe. But this was a short enough game to push through, and the font and formatting of the text made the sometimes-frustrating parser tolerable (the sheriff killing/fire part was particularly exciting thanks to the red and changing text). Plus it had some advanced features like drawing only when it's a new screen... well, really that's it ha. For 1985.. kinda absurd not to have some of the basic niceties.

Gotta love the "secrets" that the likes of Zelda will start to use (and argh, what was that pre-Zelda game with secrets of that nature that's gonna bother me but Michael's almost home and I wanna focus on finishing this game--I'm so close to the end, the first text adventure I've played through in months I think!). This gets my credit for keeping my interest in text adventures alive!

Sure enough, I got through! Quite surprised this is the text adventure I push through. Not only was I not in the mood for one (I almost just changed it to wishlist and moved on), but also I had to rush tonight. But that wound up being perfect--just to the point! Some nice adventure in this one, even if in the tacky Robin Hood framework. Nothing special with the puzzles nor the plot, but an enjoyable text adventure that reminds me of the early text adventures I so loved (but quite a bit more forgiving than most). How often will I return to text adventures? Not that often. And I definitely have favorite favorites that will outshine this one. But this one stands out amidst the many lacklust 1984 ones, and starts off 1985 in text adventures well (tho I couldn't find the release month, so who knows, it could be from late 1985, just the first one I played from 1985...)
