CHRONICLES OF 2 HEROES: AMATERASU'S WRATH

This is a hard one to score - moment to moment gameplay is definitely solid. The whole atmosphere is unique, the character switching mechanic is well done, and the level design is really good.

But I just never felt that excited to jump back in? You play as 2 titular heroes, each with different strengths, and you switch back and forth to solve platforming and combat challenges - often mid-jump. I’ve never seen this mechanic done this way, and I think it was largely successful.

But I don’t know, I wish the game was much less linear. You are almost always going left to right, with a few branching paths but always a singular goal. The only reason to go to previous biomes is for collectibles and if you skipped a more difficult platforming section to get an actually useful reward.

I would say this is 2.5/5, it’s good enough but there’s many more Metroidvanias I would prefer to play.
