Was a bit apprehensive at buying my first milsim game but having such a blast! There is absolutely no rush to do anything and that's what I love about this. In two hours of playing I was hiking through forests, fueling up an abandoned helicopter, sprinting through towns, and driving along the coast.

Reforger is intimidating at first, but as soon as you realise that the best thing to do is just spawn and start talking, everything else falls into place. Communication over mic is where I'm having the most fun, in my first game I met a Yorkshireman who led me in a jeep to get supplies, we talked, we walked around, and laughed. Maybe it was a date? Who knows.

A few people I met decided to band together, form a squad, and like a band of rogue SAS soldiers we set out to take a small barn. We picked off the enemy before taking a few casualties, I hid in a barn after hearing a helicopter overhead. There's no map compass, you have no idea where you are or who's near you. I radioed in, asked if the Heli was friendly and sure enough he radioed back, my team came back and got me out of the barn and we all sprinted to a field where the Heli swooped in and picked us up, pulling away just as RPGs came flying past. None of it was scripted, all of it was down to random players communicating and being in the right place at the right time.

I love the immersion on offer here, you can dedicate yourself to being a pilot, transport driver, gunner, sniper, explosive expert, medic. There are no classes to choose from, you simply equip what you want and tell people this is who …

I love the immersion on offer here, you can dedicate yourself to being a pilot, transport driver, gunner, sniper, explosive expert, medic. There are no classes to choose from, you simply equip what you want and tell people this is who you are and not a single soul questions it. It's a great system and I can see the mods coming thick and fast for this, just as it did for their previous title and Day Z! The friendliness and willingness from experienced players to teach new players is really wholesome here too. There was one moment where someone with a thick London accent told me to "suck my mum" because I was talking too much, but he was swiftly kicked seconds later after the rest of the server told him to suck his own mum lmao.
