JANKY but Fun Metroidvania! *

Insect Adventure is a very quirky game. It is clearly inspired by Hollow Knight and Metroid, but has the overall vibe of an early internet game. Hit boxes are wacky, glitches abound, bosses easily tamed with some sneaky exploits - and it’s a great time.

The game has a lot going for it. It has possibly the most character ability upgrades I’ve ever seen. The double jump and dash are OPTIONAL charms - that shows you how stacked this game is.

The level design and exploration are top notch. It is a ton of fun to grow as a character, find hidden upgrades, and continually improve your mobility.

The art is charming and rudimentary. The music is all over the place.

If you are looking for a very under the radar game to scratch that hollow knight itch before silksong, definitely give this one a try.
