People have compared Cheyenne to Exidy's other light gun shooter, Crossbow, but instead of a fantasy world that has an adventure feel and a team of allies, it's just you alone in a tacky "Western" world. Less adventurous and fun and exciting... Not to mention came out after Crossbow. It only got itself a 1 star with the fact the Indigenous people are often your targets, but I played more of it and see that, surprisingly considering how most American "Western" media is, the game does incorporate the many faces you actually would have seen in the Old West. It's sad how many of my students come to junior year not aware that a third of the U.S., indeed all of what we call the Southwest, was once a part of Mexico. That cowboy culture comes from Mexican vaquero culture; that real-life cowboys were almost always poor and almost always non-white; and that the "Old West" was largely more in Utah, Montana, Colorado, etc. not where they picture it in Arizona. Anyway, history lesson done, but I'm glad this game at least wasn't tooooo tacky with its representation of the West and the West's population.... that being said.... I mean you still play the gun-toting white dude.... so can't give it too much credit..

In sum: mediocre light gun shooter that, thankfully, isn't as tacky as it could have been for 1984, but is very passable--play Crossbow instead
