Top Half of the Linear Castlevanias

This game was tough. I was able to beat it with the help of some Youtube videos and utilizing save states on an emulator. It has the distinction of being the first Sega Genesis game I have ever completed. I would say this is more fun than the game boy Castlevanias, but less fun than the Super Nintendo Castlevanias. Probably more fun than Castlevania on the NES and right about on par with CVIII. Unlike later games in the series there really wasn't any dialogue or story, just jump right in and start whipping zombies! Not even banter with Dracula. I liked the graphics and the ability to whip up at an angle. You get to choose between two player characters, one with a whip and one with a sort of long spear-axe. I liked the blue sort of electro-flame whip upgrade.

Disappointing For A Castlevania Game

Preliminary: Ayyy another Castlevania game. Always a good thing. I'm not in love with the Look, it's too busy for me, but I'm sure the Castlevania hook will get me shortly.

It's weird that you can't whip upwards. And you can only whip diagonal-up while jumping?

It's weird that you can't whip upwards. And you can only whip diagonal-up while jumping?

Hmmm this might be the first Castlevania game I don't finish/give just a 3 star at most. I don't like the busy Look nor the level designs so far. The bosses are pretty decent so far. I also don't like that there aren't any of the nice QoL gameplay features from Super Castlevania. The stiff direction of jumping mixed with the lack of ability to smack in different directions (tho I did like thw downward attack while jumping)

Yeah I made it to Stage 3-3 and figured it was time to move on.

Look: 7/10 Cool in some ways, but way too busy for my eyes.

Sound: 7/10

Play: 7/10

Feel: 7.5/10

Attachment: 7.5/10 I know I will return to it to finish it. Maybe I'm just in a bad mood, but pretty wild for me to not be feeling a Castlevania.

Overall: 7.2/10

Castlevania Bloodlines is a 1994 platform game.Konami, the producer and distributor of the game, have done a great job.The story of the game is as follows.in 1897, the long war between humanity and Dracula ended, because Dracula was laid to eternal rest by Quincy Morris, a distant descendant of the Belmont family. Dec. Peace was restored to Europe until the outbreak of the First World War, which turned the continent into a dark world full of slaughter and violence. At the beginning of the war, in June 1914, the Crown Prince of Austria was killed in Sarajevo. It was said that there was a strange beautiful woman in the shadows. The woman was Elizabeth Bartley, who organized an unholy ceremony to revive her uncle, Count Dracula, who caused the war and possessed human souls from Europe. The play itself takes place in 1917. The characters are John Morris, a distant descendant of the famous Belmont and Morris families, who obeys his fate to fight vampires day and night, and Eric Lecarde, whose girlfriend turns into a vampire when Elizabeth is revived. After Drolta Tzuentes resurrected Elizabeth Bartley using black magic (Drolta is a submissive witch of Elizabeth), they traveled around Europe to carry out the resurrection of Count Dracula. John Morris and Eric Lecarde followed them. Although Dracula's resurrection was successful, the vampire hunters defeated him and his allies. The gameplay is as follows.in this game consisting of 6 sections, you are trying to kill the creatures and pass the section. The music of the game is beautiful. If you are not too obsessed with graphics and you like retro games, this game is for you.My rating for the game: 10/10 (y) Good games to everyone 🙂

Wow, it actually contends against Super Castlevania IV....

I really had no idea what to expect from a Castlevania on the Genesis. To me the thought doesnt sound pleasant, having already played many times over Super Castlevania IV. The buttery smooth response and animation of that classic title is uncharacteristic of many Genesis games, how would Bloodlines respond to the challenge, I wondered.

I was immediately Vince McMahon'ed after the intro, seeing the weird video effect pizazz of the Title itself morph into view. "The Sega boys really did do some magic here, I said."

Throughout the entire game, the experience is a visual pleasure. Everything looks fantastic and everything has a theme. I'd be hesitant to argue against anyone who said this was the best castlevania of them all due to the variance in level theme. It's hard to beat a tour of Europe in a 16-bit playthrough. The game sounds great too. Familiar melodies of classic themes come back and sound surprisingly good on a console that often cranks out raw metal sounds of near-monotony.

The game has some flaws. Theres not a lot of non-linearity (at least it doesnt seem so?) and the levels dont fork like many Castlevanias. But who cares? This is a great looking, sounding, and playing game. One of the best for the Mega Drive.

Klassisen Castlevanian joutsenlaulu

Castlevania oli pitkään ennen kaikkea Nintendo-pelaajien sarja, mutta vuonna 1994 Sega sai vihdoin palansa kakkua. Castlevania: Bloodlines (tai the New Generation meille verta pelkääville eurooppalaisille) julkaistiin Mega Drivelle ja edustaa viimeistä perinteistä Vaniaa, ennen kuin metroidvaniat ja 3D-kokeilut heittivät sarjan kertaheitolla uusille teille. Joutsenlauluksi peli on sopiva.

Joutsenlauluksi peli on sopiva. Muuten peli on todella kelvollinen lisäys Castlevanioiden katraaseen.

[Played on Mega Drive Mini] I'm not sure if this is an unpopular opinion but I think this could be not only the last "traditional" Castlevania (meaning: action for the sake of it, no adventure/RPG elements at all) but also the best one. It's visually stunning, full of spectacular moments, music is great and it's so much fun to play. Also, it's hard but in an honest way: if you are careful and study the enemies patterns and the level design, it's very doable. That being said, save states help for sure.

Cute. Cuddly. Castlevania

This game has a lot to like but I understand why it kind of got forgotten. It looks and sounds amazing, but it isn't especially groundbreaking. A lot of fun on any modern system with save states to account for the lack of continues.
