AFTER THREE DAYSE TRYING i managed to beat Death (CV1). Took a perfect run of the whole level. One level and one boss left, but that will wait for tomorrow.

Despite the sheer volume of solid gold hits in the series, Castlevania Anniversary Collection is a somewhat mixed bag from Konami, with stone-cold classics sharing the spotlight with a couple of undead clunkers that really should have remained dead and buried. Despite the sheer volume of solid gold hits in the series, Castlevania Anniversary Collection is a somewhat mixed bag from Konami, with stone-cold classics sharing the spotlight with a couple of undead clunkers that really should have remained dead and buried. Still, even with the questionable inclusion of Simon's Quest and Castlevania: The Adventure, the 'highs' on offer are among the highest points in the entire franchise, and a Western debut for Kid Dracula is a lovely treat for retro gamers looking for something new.
As long as you’re willing to ignore the lesser titles in this package and you're not too bummed out by the omission of other classic entries, then you’re going to have a very good time with what’s left – and there's always room for next Castlevania Anniversary Collection.

The games themselves were fun, but the package is lackluster. It feels like a rom dump with very little changed. I'm still happy with my purchase, I got it on sale for $4 in a convenient package on Steam, but I think I'd recommend emulation over this collection.

This is honestly the laziest collection I've bought. The only things that were added were save states, custom button mapping, wallpapers, and toggling between 4:3, pixel perfect, or 16:9 w/ or w/o scanlines. I was kind of expecting them to add QoL enhancements, but it honestly feels like they put together ROMs on emulators. They could've at least added resolution options, (since I'm playing on PC), filtering, and volume options. There isn't even an options choice in the main menu, I happened to find it by clicking every button on my controller after selecting a game. I should mention I've had issues with the two games I've tried playing so far crashing. Castlevania 1 crashed (the game, not the collection itself) and I was lucky that I had a save state I could load from instead of having to play the game from the beginning. Castlevania 2 had an issue where I had to restart the entire collection. Overall, I don't regret buying the collection since I got it on sale for $4 and these are all games I've never played before, but I am pretty disappointed that emulating would've been a better option.

Playing my beloved Simon´s Quest. This game gave me my favourite game memory. I was young and my mum and me we played. Well I played the nes but she was watching and participating just as much. I was not even allowed to go to bed because I had school the next day.My mum loved watching me game.lol

Well back then there were no guides well at least not in The Netherlands and no internet so we did not know where to go or what to do next. At one moment we were stuck. We tried everything. It seemed we had to make a very big jump but that was not possible so we kept on trying going from left to right.
Then finally, I never forget the moment, I kneeled at a certain spot with my character and all of a sudden a whole new world popped up. We were overjoyed because both are not quitters and we could not stand being stuck.
Best game moment in my life still.

Shout out to the super underrated Belmont's Revenge for the Game Boy which is simply one of the best ClassicVanias ever made.
