Immensely Influential, the start of a genre I sometimes enjoy

Look: 8/10 Nothing special, but critical to future versions of this game that I grew up on. I like the visual concept of the blocks you break, but otherwise nothing special.

Sound: -/10 I wont count this.

Look: 8/10 Nothing special, but critical to future versions of this game that I grew up on. I like the visual concept of the blocks you break, but otherwise nothing special.

Sound: -/10 I wont count this.

Play: 7/10 I respect this game for its gameplay and its influence on future games I enjoyed years ago. But I wasn't motivated to complete the game, and it reminded me that I haven't been as into puzzle/simple arcade games as I used to be. A little worried by that sentiment, since my plan is to play mostly that era games for a while. Hm, maybe time to take a break and do some later games for a bit before returning.

Feel: 7/10 Again, its influence is undeniable, plus its innovation. Oh, and its storyline (albeit only knowable via the manual/external info) is great. I do enjoy playing this genre of arcade game, but considering I only live so long, I don't plan to return to it much except via its many iterations.

Attachment: 6/10 Unlikely I will replay, however I can't deny that some of the games I will be playing later are technically just clones/iterations of this game. Gotta give that respect. Decent game, and if you're in the mood for simple arcade breakout gameplay (after all, it's named after this game ha), play it. Otherwise, probly just stick to watching playthroughs for fun/entertainment, or play it with some friends just to laugh and goof around for a bit.

The one that started it all. Future versions definitely have more variety, but gotta give credit where credit is due.

1001 Games - #3

Pros: influential game design, time-killing fun that holds up today

Cons: ball trajectory can be unpredictable

Recommendation: a legendary game that has variations seen everywhere from iPods to the Google search bar (seriously, Google Image search "atari breakout"). Hardly a point in making a recommendation as I'm sure everyone has played it in some form or another.
