Some believe that a 5 star rating system should lens an objective view of a game's success at delivering what it set out to do. If that's the case, Peggle deserves 5 stars. I can't think of anything beside a Slot Machine (or an actual Pachinko machine) that has a higher simplicity to engrossment ratio, purely through the manifestation of its celebrations.
But I think the ol' Netflix model of
- 5 stars - Loved it
- 4 stars - Really liked it
- 3 stars - Mostly liked it
- 2 stars - Didn't like it
- 1 star - Really did not like it
provides more useful information to reflect a reviewer's taste, when considered in total.
So 3 stars it is. Like a Penn and Teller act, Peggle reminds me with bald transparency that I'm not above psychological manipulation. It's phenomenal, and it hooked its claws into me for a good long while, but some more reasonable part of me resents its power.
