Trying to finish Resident Evil 4 was so terrible and painful that it was the first game that made me reconsider my two year old paradigma of having to finish every game I start.

I was trying to beat Krauser when the game crashed and I was put back to my save point, when I finally with a great relief decided I will drop and deinstall this game unfinished. Best decision of the week!

Bottom line, I repeat: I personally recommend to just play the first 5 or 6 hours in the village.

Today the long awaited HD project fan mod was released and I figured it's a good time to finally catch up with this classic. Played the first 20 min in the village, so far, so good!

No doubt my favorite if not the greatest game ever made, I'll never quit praising it. The game is timeless and in my opinion, doesn't need any remake. The soundtrack, gameplay, character models, and plot still hold up. This is my little cheesy action horror baby, i love this game.

Still no QUEST/OCULUS store option under EDIT DATA, eh? Oh well... I started the Quest 2 VR edition of the game.

No Facebook servers, no Oculus working. No Oculus working, no Resident Evil 4 VR Edition working. Hope that minds have been changed about the exclusivity deal some time soon if this was a reoccurring problem.

Game good. Not Survival Horror. Still hits all the right buttons for a Resident Evil game just different genre. Old and clunky but easy to get past. Damsel in distress plotline old, sexist, and tired, but dumb B-movie shit makes up for it. Good game. Franchise needed evolution because Code Veronica and (probably) Zero were stale and meh. Thanks for reading.

I definitely see why folks consider Resident Evil 4 to be one of the best games of all time. It's fuggin great so far. So far I think 2 might just have to be my favorite overall, but 4 is definitely up there. Hell, may as well throw my rankings of the games I've played so far

I definitely see why folks consider Resident Evil 4 to be one of the best games of all time. It's fuggin great so far. So far I think 2 might just have to be my favorite overall, but 4 is definitely up there. Hell, may as well throw my rankings of the games I've played so far

  1. Resident Evil 2. It's just the quintessential Resident Evil game to me that checks all the buttons and the A/B game mode actually had me interested enough to play the game a second time, immediately. A much more ambitious and interesting story and game than the original, just a fantastic experience overall.

  2. Resident Evil Remake and Resident Evil 4. I can't decide just yet. If Resident Evil 4 doesn't drop the ball in the last chapter, I'm gonna have to give it to 4. REmake was such a fantastic upgrade to the original that respected the original in all the right places, but also knew when to make something from scratch. My only regret is that I never found the magnum, like an idiot. The only thing that keeps me from placing it as number 1 is that I don't see Chris's story as being interesting enough to warrant me playing the game again immediately, like the A/B Claire/Leon story. If I come back to it, of course I'll give Chris a spin. 4, so far, is a rollercoaster of a good time. It's a totally different game from any of the ones that came before it, but it's just so much fun. I'm not much of an old-head for anything but Halo, so new and different doesn't bother me if it's good. The escort quest doesn't bother me nearly as much as I thought it would. The game isn't particularly scary but literally none of them have been scary, just tense. REmake is creepy and had me jumpy but definitely never scary.

  3. The Original. It did so much right out of the gate. The level design and the way that the map opened up and created shortcuts as you progressed in the game was masterful. The story was simple but absolutely hilarious because of the out-there C-movie acting. It set the foundations for Resident Evil and introduced iconic characters, like Jill, Chris, and of course, Wesker.

  4. Resident Evil 3. This one was frustrating. Possibly my own fault for just being bad, but man there was just too much action going on in a game not built for hella action. It had a cool story exploring the aftermath of both RE1 and RE2. The Nemesis was actually scary, forget what I said earlier. That dude comes into the map you run like hell. But there was just too action going on, bogging the whole thing down. And even though it's definitely one of the shorter games, it felt like it went on too long.

  5. Code Veronica. I disliked this game. The story was stupid, but I did like seeing Wesker again. That was about it. The T-Virus saga should have concluded with 3 instead of leaving a big fuck off cliffhanger about taking the fight to Umbrella or something and then just not having anything come of it.The map was way too big and non linear in an annoying and confusing way. The voice acting was bad but in a bad way (not funny like the original). The poor design choices when you switch characters (permanent loss of items unless you know to do something beforehand that makes ZERO sense to do when you've already played any video game ever) was just the capstone to the incredibly meh game. I hate that this is actually a somewhat important game in terms of the lore or whatever.

Haven't played Zero or any spin offs, but I've watched YouTube footage of the Survivor games and they look... Rough? That's very kind.

I think this game gave me whiplash.

It's quite good but going from one of the tightest old school fixed camera tank control games of all time (REmake) to one of the first games to popularize the OTS aspect of TPS games is... Well it's like going back to square one.

It's quite good but going from one of the tightest old school fixed camera tank control games of all time (REmake) to one of the first games to popularize the OTS aspect of TPS games is... Well it's like going back to square one.

Once I realized that I could change the controls around a little bit to aim with the control stick it finally clicked. This is literally just a tank control game but with a different kind of camera. I'm having a pretty good time so far. Definitely a different kind of game than every RE prior, but that's totally fine. It still feels tense, like every situation could be my last if I don't use my ammo correctly. Granted there's a LOT more ammo but there's also a lot more enemies. I think after the first 2 or 3 chapters I've killed more enemies than the entirety of REmake.

It is still not as outstanding as RE2. My only complaint are 2: the lack of more survival horror / horror scenes; the no-turning-back adoption of the shoulder camera instead of stationary. I think that stationary cameras should have never being thrown away by the industry, and especially in horror games; it makes look more cinematographic and it creates artistic …

In the latter stages of my weird out-of-order RE series playthrough. Got midway through Chapter 3 today. Really surprised, so far I definitely don’t like this as much as REmake, which I ended up quite positive on, and I’m even debating between it and 5 in terms of how much fun I’m actually having.

Replacing the co-op fun I had in the similar RE5 with an AI partner who’s at risk has been... mixed. In one section where I protected her as she turned levers while I was also being bombarded, it led to one of the more brilliantly tense sections I’ve played in one of these games. Most of the time, though, I’m already finding it kinda frustrating, so I really don’t know. Walks a fine line I guess? I only really liked one of the bosses so far, this wolverine-like guy who made for an exciting fight, which would be even better with the RE2-3 remakes’ gameplay.

Story has its moments, I definitely wonder where it’s going and it has a fun vibe in general. The atmosphere in that early village section when the rain kicked in during Chapter 2 was brilliant—not sure how I feel about this castle though with its huge amount of enemies and weird new character.

Curious to see how the rest of this one plays out!

Resident Evil 4 is one of my top 5 favorite games of all time. I thought about this question for a little bit since the Resident Evil 3 Remake is coming this Friday and is one I hope you guys could answer to see what you guys think: should Resident Evil 4 be remade?

In my opinion, no. I personally don't think RE4 should be remade. The original Resident Evil 2 & 3 were never ported to later gen consoles(aside from the GameCube) after the original releases so I can see why they can be remade. Resident Evil 4 is one of the most accessible games of all time. It's on almost everything. GameCube, PS2, Wii, PS3, Xbox 360, PS4, Xbox One, iOS, Android, Zeebo, Nintendo Switch, and PC and I bet if they didn't remake it, it would still be ported to the PS5 and Xbox Series X.
