It doesn’t and it can’t have the same richness and in-depth approach of The Making of Karateka because it’s about tens of games instead of two and a half, but it still is a fascinating trip (pun definitely intended) that shines a clear light on Minter’s ability to reinvent himself. One thing that clearly shines is how he completely changed his approach to game design by the end of the Eighties and made his games more readable, approachable, very modern. One limit is in how the doc won’t/can’t dig deep into the more contemporary Minter production and ends up being very superficial about what has basically been a second career for him. But it’s fine.
