Was this game always so gorgeous? How the hell does it look better than its finale that came out 7 years later?

Beat the game and both expansions multiple times on hardest difficulty. The first was around the time it came out, maybe as late as 2007. Beat the game and both expansions multiple times on hardest difficulty. The first was around the time it came out, maybe as late as 2007. The most recent was around 2017 on my gaming PC that I did not have back then. Maximum graphics settings and I was amazed at how good the game looked; lights, shadows, particle effects, everything. This game is a technical masterpiece that holds up extremely well today. Not to mention the excellent gameplay, horror and enemy AI.
The assault rifle was my most used weapon and my preferred strategy was to sneak around for first kill and then fall back to a choke point. Like I said the enemy AI is good so why fight on their terms. I would peak around a corner and headshot them without worrying about being flanked. Granted not every fight can go that way so I did a fair share of close quarters run and gunning with the shotgun and SMG. My favourite weapons though were the rail gun and Laser, but I tended not to waste them on average enemies. I avoided using slow motion unless it was absolutely necessary. The kind of situation where multiple enemies ambush at close range or if my health was too low with no med kits in sight. Most definitely not an easy game like that.
One of my favorite shooters of all time.

So late for this party. I always wanted to play this when I this game. My friend I watched her brother while he played this one and were so scared. Honestly, todays standars this is more of a shooter than horror. I dont mind older games so I don't say anything about graphics and how gameplay feels a little outdated …

I dont mind older games so I don't say anything about graphics and how gameplay feels a little outdated etc because they don't matter to me when game is actually old. Everything aside I really like the AI. They really want me dead. At one point I was taking cover under a window and next to the door. I waited enemies to come trough the door and then shoot them. Instead one enemy decides to do leroys jenkins and jump trough the window above me. I see this so rearly that I was confused a couple seconds. I have still long way to go but over for game over 10 years old I really like this one.

Then I came across this classic title and this just blew me away. Fantastic atmosphere unpredictable scares and a very intriguing plot all is here {However I will admit its really hard to follow the story especially in the beginning}. And the gameplay well if you ever wondered how would Max Payne play in first person mode then just play fear and experience the awesomeness. The intensity of each battle and the reaction of Ai will just keep you hooked and when you do take out whole enemy squads then you will feel like an actual badass and the terror of Alma will keep you always on your toes and you will never be without tension and fun.

I had the demo of this back when I had a gaming PC (boy, that was a while ago). At the time I thought it was amazing and creepy, especially with headphones on. The Xbox 360 version? Not so much.
