A beautiful game whose cinematic aspirations are apparent. Its only got a few hours worth of meaningful gameplay, but those few hours are a treat.

Preliminary: Wow!!! The Look and the Sound are amazing! For 1986 especially! The Raid action parts look... very questionable controls-wise. And I neverrrrr seem to fully engage with war strategy games, but I do love Risk the board game... so maybe this will click? At the least the Look and Sound are worth reviewing/noting

Play: It's really tacky when a manual has alllll this lore but nothing about the controls >.< Hopefully they'll be intuitive enough. (The history books for more reading at the end was a cool touch to the manual, though.)

Welllllll, I might as well stop it hear. I thought I'd push through for a full review and a 3 star, but I just still can't click with war strategy games. Some really cool touches here, though: the cinematic high quality graphics, the jousting and swordfights instead of just pure strategy, and the modern PC game feel. But even the Sound wasn't as impressive as my first preliminary peeking, and as impressive as the Look was, I almost miss the straightforward look of the early strategy games. Just give me a computerized Risk board game I suppose :-p
