Like its predecessor, players take the role of a dungeon keeper, building and defending an underground dungeon from the would-be heroes that invade it, as well as from other keepers. In the game's campaign mode, the player is charged with recovering the portal gems from each area in order to open a portal to the surface.

Another brave soul finally made mention of the sadistically slow gameplay. That and lack of a proper difficulty curve on the single player missions, a soundtrack inferior to the first, a user interface that has seen better times, a terribly graphics engine that has literally made the game unplayable in more recent years.

I did it! I finished Dungeon Keeper 2 and you can do it too! Why? Because its not so mad-crazy-difficult than its precessor. Its still tough but manageable. What brings me to all the nice things i can say about this game:

  • very fair but challenging campaign
  • great sounds, mourning, grunting, buzzing and of course screaming your dungeon is full of great noises, once my creatures begann to sing "Burn baby burn", i dont know why and i dont want to forget to mention the great voice of your advisor
  • its so much fun to manipulate, torture and finally occupie the fairy tale lands
  • great ending this time the hole slaughter has a (simple) but original goal
  • Molyneuxs god-playing never gets old, the game still holds up very well

Dungeon Keeper 2 is, what a sequel should look like, they done every thing much better, without changing the great maine-concept, only more creatures had been nice!
