The thing happened and now I’m into Disc 2. This time around I’ve been playing the Spanish translation for the first time. I had no idea about how bad it was going into it, but ay caramba it makes the English translation (Which it seems to be based on!) look like a job well done. There’s grammatical mishaps left and right, and bizarre choices that make playing this into a slightly surreal/incomprehensible experience.

After twenty years I finally finished Final Fantasy VII.

I had Echo-S installed with voice mods. Every time Sephrioth used his two minute attack "Super Nova" he kept going on and on.

Actually beat Sephiroth on the first try. The journey getting there was the hard part.

So THAT happened, then there was a boss fight which killed me.

So I have to watch it happen again and I die to the boss again.

So now when I go back into the game, I'll have to watch it a third time.

At this point, it's going to become "Yeah, yeah, stabby stabby".

Tried playing Final Fantasy VII twenty years ago and never got past the first disc.

Never went back. Tonight I installed a bunch of mods to update the graphics. I hope I can finally complete it.

Also this is the first game I've played with mods.

It's been a bit over a month since I finished the game but I had a long drive today and I honestly just sat there obsessing over the scene where Cloud and Tifa spend a night together under the Highwind before everyone gets back together and heads to the final dungeon. The atmosphere is so great and it's a nice moment before shit goes down that I don't think I fully appreciated when I first saw it. It's been kind of sitting in the back of my head and just popped into the forefront of my consciousness for whatever reason today.

Holy shit the sequence where you piece together Cloud's memories with Tifa is sooo cool. One of my favorite parts of the game so far, easily.

Just finished part 1! I really wish the ending of the first part wasn't so impossible to go into spoiler free, because I think it would've had much more impact if I hadn't known about it years prior to ever touching the game.

I guess that's just what happens when a game this old is also this popular.

As someone who didn't grow up with this game, knowing that there is a mod out there that fixes the chibi overworld character models will be a major boon to enjoying it

I've been enjoying this very much so far, though I was very glad to finally get to the world map after a very "on-rails" feeling first 6-7 hours. Enjoying the story and characters so far, but wish I had had a leeeetle more freedom to shop, grind, explore, etc. Not quite as much as I had in the first couple Final Fantasy games, as I think that was a bit too much freedom, but still, a bit more would have been nice.

Currently working on catching a chocobo.
