I think I need a break for now, I'm about 28 hours in, near the half way with what seems to be a big revelation, but I'm not gripped. I've played too many JRPGs at this point with a similar story arc and while this is definitely a case of Seinfield Isn't Funny where the ideas were new and interesting …

I've played too many JRPGs at this point with a similar story arc and while this is definitely a case of Seinfield Isn't Funny where the ideas were new and interesting at the time, it hasn't had the impact on me now, 24 years of JRPGs later.

I think I like 5 and 6 more, 7 is pretty darn slow. And I wish they did the materia system differently. Grinding materia exp is a bit annoying. Still a fun game though.

The AI upscaled backgrounds appear to me like what my nostalgia clouded memory thinks this game looked like on Playstation.

One of my favorite entries in the franchise and the first one I completed. This is basically a 3D version of FF6 as the story is very similar (group of rebels taking on an evil organization and insane individual from said organization). There is so much extra content in this game and the soundtrack is just one of the best. The materia system makes each character feel a bit same-y, but FF6 had the same problem with Espers.

Dropped it after getting the chocobo materia then getting into a random battle on the world map due to being confused on where to go next. Don't get me wrong, this game might or is great but as for someone who was born in the early 2000s and only started playing video games around 2009 or 2010, I'd say the …

Don't get me wrong, this game might or is great but as for someone who was born in the early 2000s and only started playing video games around 2009 or 2010, I'd say the problem has nothing to do with the game but me. I'm just not into old retro games or games before the PS2 and GameCube

I'm not playing Final Fantasy VII, but my wife is (I'm half watching, half reading the Myst series of books from the 90s). It is, however, a lot of fun to see my wife playing a game that she's never played but that I'm very familiar with. She knows all the spoilers, and she watched me play some of it (and the Remake), but playing through is different. And WATCHING someone play through a classic for the first time is so much fun. It's like playing it again for the first time.

This surely showed its age sometimes but it still has that PS1 charm to it. A legendary game in its time and it will always have a special placed in my heart. <3

Should I still play it? Or is it just a waste of time with the remake out?

So I tried going back and playing FF VII, but it has been so long (a year) that I don't remember what's going on. I looked up what to do in a guide, but nothing the guide says matches what is happening (I'm in Wutai). I'm confused on why none of these events are happening, I don't remember where to …

So I tried going back and playing FF VII, but it has been so long (a year) that I don't remember what's going on. I looked up what to do in a guide, but nothing the guide says matches what is happening (I'm in Wutai). I'm confused on why none of these events are happening, I don't remember where to go, and I'm just frustrated. I want to restart the game from the beginning, but I generally dislike turn-based RPGs and don't want to have to redo 16.5 hours of progress. Now I just feel like shit for not having played and beaten what is considered one of the best games ever made.

After a four-month hiatus, I'm giving this another go. Made it through Nibelheim and going relatively strong. Forget virtually every strategy I'd figured out when I started playing it.

Super excited, this has been a very rewarding experience, so much of this game that I missed when I first played it in Middle and High School, also probably why I couldn't beat it (not using HP Plus and MP Plus, or All Materia, or status ignoring items, and the list goes on of the things I just didn't get when 13 year old me played).

This first play through is just to beat the game. Down the road I want to replay it, now that I know more about it, and really play with every character a decent amount. I tried to use most of them some, but ended up leaning into mostly Cloud, Tifa, Vincent, and Yuffie.

The coolest interactive FMV sequences here just dont woo me.
Nothing about this game is overly good or bad. the setting here is cool but its just not the mind blowing FF7 i had always heard about for 25 years. (like so much hype to the extend they made some huge movie about it before Blizzard was even a thing)

I am thru Cosmo Canyon, and have done all the Fort Condor battles (I think). Really enjoying playing this on the Switch, the portability, and being able to snatch a few minutes of play while on my lunch breaks has been amazing.

Playing this definetely has me excited for the remake coming out in March.

I have never fully beaten this game, on a whim I bought it on the PS4. The x3 speed makes some of the negatives of this game (the grind for levels and money for example) go by mercifully fast!

The story of the game and the characters are still excellent.
