I came into his house, found nothing.

When I left the house a courier came in out of nowhere and gave me an inheritance letter from a random NPC whose name I did not even know.

After moving around I realized the NPC's name was the one who just got killed in front of my eyes lmao.

So, thanks, random NPC! It is an honour for me to inherit 2 carrots and one lockpick from a complete stranger who I couldn't even save from dying LOL

BUT if i stop now I never picking this up again, so I'm going to push thru and only go for the main quest so I can see what all the fuzz is about.

If everything else fails imma just fill this with weird and inappropriate mods and see what breaks, I guess

I don't think this type of game is for me. I mean, I'm having fun, but no 100+ hours type of fun. But if I drop it now I'm never going to play this again, probably.

It's weird really. I loved Morrowind and thought the rest of the franchise was going to be like that, but neither Oblivion nor Skyrim …

Seeing all the chatter about the Oblivion remake made me want to go back and clean up the achievements for this one. A classic, and I can't wait for the next Elder Scrolls release(whenever that will be).

One day I will play through the main story instead of endlessly managing my inventory, but it’s still a blast doing that

At last, I've gone through and cleared out my (probably 100+) mods from my computer and uninstalled Skyrim. I'm pretty sure I've had it installed along with all those mods for the better part of a decade now, so it feels pretty big finally tossing it all out. It served me well when I revisited the game to get all …

It served me well when I revisited the game to get all the achievements a few years back but since then it's just been gathering digital dust.

Revisiting Skyrim in VR really shines a light in what was great and bad about this game. Lovely world, with lots of genuinely interesting characters and quests. It's amazing how you can just wander off in any direction and you're guaranteed to stumble into something interesting.

The dungeons, on the other hand, are really meh. Painfully linear and samey. Most of them have some neat bits of environmental storytelling and I love how the furniture and items you find make sense, but those details are not enough to hide the fact that they share the same structure: linear corridor with a few encounters, boss room, room with loot, shortcut to entrance.

Flawed, but still awfully good, especially with mods. Still, not as much nostalgy as with Morrowind or Oblivion.

I originally had Oblivion on Xbox 360 when the console launched, and then played Skyrim for a little bit when that came out, but got sucked back into other things. So, I never got a chance to play both of those more than a couple of hours.

If I had to start with any of the Elder Scrolls games which would you pick and why? I've heard amazing things about Morrowind, but it's so old I'm not sure if I'd enjoy it now. My brain tells me to go with Skyrim because it's the newest and looks the best visually. But, I do not know!

It's like the Fallout series for me, lol. Was told New Vegas is the best so I'll be starting that one this year.

I've got 1000s of hours in Skyrim and I'm happy to be back on the PS3, playing the game via an old flat-glass panel CRT TV. Word is that the PS3 version runs "like dog water" but so far so good.

It's a lot of fun playing this on an old TV again, even better that it's the standard release version (not Special Edition). This is how I first experienced the game when I took it home for the 360 on launch day back in 2011. Text is readable but you have to squint pretty hard to see... yet the low resolution really helps to carry a sense of mystique. Lighting effects look incredible (do they ever not look cool on a CRT?) and the lack of visual clarity when looking at large swathes of land also helps to convey a sense of realism.

Playing Oblivion via the PS3 on an old CRT has been one of the most immersive gaming experiences I've ever had. I am having a similar experience with Skyrim, and have noted the significance of the old style TV for achieving this... although it still doesn't make complete sense to me.

Is credit due to the TV set's vibrant colors creating a more enriching visual experience? Fuzziness/lack of clarity in the low resolution actually making me feel more active/involved in the process of navigating and interacting with the game world? I've got my theories.
