I was familiar with this game and its meta nature but I had never played it before. I already knew going in that it had multiple endings and no “true” ending so I was done when I felt like I was done. I got a bunch of cool sequences, some repetitive sequences that mimicked the original ones but this time with a bucket, and one ending I felt was truly unsettling (the skip button desert ending). I liked the narrator and the unorthodox storytelling—this game was truly ahead of its time—but I don’t know if I’ll ever play it again.

Can't really be reviewed

It's a dark comedy game that really can't be reviewed -- experiencing it transforms you too much to be able to.

In relation to the first one, it's much more than it seems at first -- lots has been added.

remake/sequel?

Just as fun as the original game with some new extras that make for a fun time. I enjoyed the new content, but it is also very different from the old stuff, so it feels a bit weird.

Bit too short, but did make me lol many times

Although if it'd been longer, would I still have enjoyed it minute to minute? I don't know. There were some light puzzle elements to it, but I mostly played as more of an interactive show than a game, almost. Regardless, the writing was top notch. So was the narration. The camera motion was nauseating at first and the movement controls …

There were some light puzzle elements to it, but I mostly played as more of an interactive show than a game, almost. Regardless, the writing was top notch. So was the narration. The camera motion was nauseating at first and the movement controls felt sluggish. This was clearly low budget but everywhere it mattered (writing, narration, design) the game excelled.

While most of the new content is extremely funny, I can't help but feel a little bit underwhelmed by the extension as a whole.

For someone who has played the original game, it's very easy to go directly to the new content and just go through it. I have the feeling that the developers didn't want people like me to re-explore everything, so they integrated the new stuff in such a way that it's hard to miss. Sadly this suppresses the thrill of discovery almost entirely. The new paths themselves are really good, but the process of finding them is obvious and boring.

I also wish this Ultra Deluxe version wasn't as meta and aware of its own nature as an extension of The Stanley Parable. A couple of jokes around this would have been fine, but here we are talking about a good half of the new content. The result is an extension that doesn't feel very organic, like it would have made more sense if it came as a DLC or an actual sequel.

I really liked the new content, but I feel too conflicted about how it was implemented to give The Stanley Parable: Ultra Deluxe a better rating.
