"Human Resource Machine is a puzzle game. In each level, your boss gives you a job. Automate it by programming your little office worker! The cartooney programming puzzle game

I like puzzle games. I like logic and I understand programming. I like humor. I couldn't finish HRM. It felt too much like work, too much like programming with one hand tied behind your back, and with not enough story-based reward for completing levels. I tried getting my sons to play it, but they dropped out after a few levels. …

Human Resource Machine is a very simple look at basic programming principles through an easy to follow graphical approach. It has fun and clear demonstrating every step of the program so you can see exactly how your script is affecting the data.

It's clear that this game would be a great tool for any beginners looking to dive into coding for the first time. It handles the core concepts of Input/Output processing via loops and jumps, introduces commenting and even includes simple memory management concepts.

I personally found it charming for a short while but it quickly became clear that my background in computer science trivialised many of the puzzles; this is not a game aimed at professional developers.

It is clearly designed as a mobile game so can be a bit clunky on PC with minimal settings options.

Began playing this. First impressions, it has the humour I expected and the puzzles are fun.

Fun, for a while

Human Resource Machine's gamification of assembly code programing is fun for a while, but by the end I had given up and was just pasting solutions from the Steam forums so I could see the end. Human Resource Machine's gamification of assembly code programing is fun for a while, but by the end I had given up and was just pasting solutions from the Steam forums so I could see the end. The actual programming problems you are trying to solve are difficult, but the frustration comes from the mobile-first interface. You have to click and drag everything and 'draw' your labels. By about halfway through, I would have given anything to be able to just type my commands and labels. But I guess that would have been just programming, not a programming game.

This game has been really good for revising Programming 1 and makes me consider coding more in the future! I'm hooked. Just figured out a simple way to organize three numbers after trying too hard. Only a few levels left and some more for optimization, those Fibonaccis and prime factors still go way over my head when in practice.

Cool little game. I like Tomorrow Corporation's simple puzzle games with small, weird stories. The story in this one was the least satisfying of their games, but the puzzles make you feel pretty good once you solve them.
