Played the main game whole week.

What a brilliant masterpiece. Still playable. Still fun.

Damnnnnn.

Gotta play Throne of Baal DLC next week.

God-Tier RPG game. Better than Pokemon. I am very excited for Baldur's Gate 3, i hope Larian lives up to it. Their work with Divinity OS2 was nothing short of amazing.

I'm most of the way through, and, while it doesn't completely hold up to my high school feelings, I'm still having fun for the most part. I'm most of the way through, and, while it doesn't completely hold up to my high school feelings, I'm still having fun for the most part. It's a massive step up from BG1, with the main story and characters being substantially more interesting. I think the majority of the side quests are a bit flat, so I'm probably going to leave a bunch undone and move on to Throne of Bhaal soon.

I've installed a whole heap of mods that really change character progression and combat. I enjoy all of the additional character options they add, but I'm sick of casting true seeing (or glitter dust/invisibility purge)/ruby ray of reversal/secret word/breach to dispel every damn enemy that can use magic. I eventually turned down the precasting in Sword Coast Stratagems (not off completely, though) just to reduce the tedium. That said, better AI has overall improved the experience, so I guess its worth the cost of admission. I'm a bit worried about burning out before I finish Throne of Bhaal, though... Of course, my alt-itis has me excited to get to Icewind Dale and mess around with some other build ideas haha.

Completed Shadows of Amn. I feel obligated to play Throne of Bhaal so I'll be doing that. And then no more Baldur's Gate for me.

Been playing a lot. I cleared my side quests out in chapter 2 which took forever, but really let me level to a point where I'm comfortable doing the main quest. By comfortable I mean "demolishing all of the enemies in my path." Won't spoil anything but for those that have played, I just left Spellhold and started Chapter …

Some people say to just skip BG1 because BG2 is a tighter experience and more enjoyable by modern gaming standards. I agree with that latter part, however I have to say that playing Baldur's Gate 1 really made BG2 more playable. There's a lot of little details that you learn by failing in BG1 that help you in BG2 because the gameplay is almost exactly the same.

Having a good time, though I somehow stepped into a spot where I seem under-leveled. This game positively assaults you with new quests. You can't fart without someone running up to you begging for help. Good to have a lot of content, but I like to do one thing at a time. Also, it can get a little annoying when quests are timed, but you don't know how long you have until you automatically fail. For example, I was on a quest that had no indication that it was timed so I rested for 16 hours to get all healed up and failed the quest. Kind of a bummer, but one quest is no biggie. There's a million others.

Oh so slowly getting through this. My cadence with old CRPGs is usually "Start. Stop for 3 months. Continue. Stop for 3 months when 3/4 through the game. Continue and beat the game."

We're on the first continuation. Already I can see it's story is stronger than BG1, though I only have 5 or so hours in. It's a tough …

We're on the first continuation. Already I can see it's story is stronger than BG1, though I only have 5 or so hours in. It's a tough one to just plop into, like all of those older Black Isle games. You need to at least try, and beating your head against it over and over isn't a good strategy. Once these games "click" it's usually a win for me, so here's hoping.

One day I'll have all those games completed (BG1, BG2, IDW1, IDW2, PS:T, NWN). One day.

Added a bunch of reasonable not too insane mods for a playthrough years after my first. I doubt I'll finish but man it still holds up. What a great game.
