The third Crysis entry is a visually breathtaking first-person shooter that showcases the full power of the CryEngine 3, which was already impressive enough on it's previous iterations. Set in a decaying, overgrown New York City encased in a giant dome, the game combines high-tech sci-fi elements with lush natural environments, creating a striking and immersive world. So, similarly to Crysis 2. this one also heavily focuses on urban settings, compared to the first entry to the series, though this time, with a nice mix between jungle/forest and urban environments, which fits perfectly with the game story and narrative at the time.

The MC this time is Prophet, a longtime character of the series, a soldier equipped with a powerful nanosuit that lets you switch between stealth, speed, armor, and enhanced strength on the fly. So no big news on how the suit works on this one. This flexibility allows you to approach combat however they like, whether through silent takedowns or explosive firefights, and this was a trend back in the day, every shooter had both ways of playing, giving you a more flexible combat in the end. Though this quickly started to get repetitive since all shooters tarted copying this trait, trying to call this feature "freedom on how you approach combat", while in reality, all you really need to decide is between stealth or non-stealth combat, so not as complex as something like immersive sims in any way.

The campaign is relatively short, lasting around six to seven hours, but it's packed with intense moments and cinematic flair. The signature Predator Bow adds a fresh and satisfying layer to stealth gameplay, and this was definitely this game's biggest standout, this thing is very fun to use. While the story tries to wrap up the trilogy's complex plot, it can be hard to follow if you're not already invested in the series' lore. Overall, Crysis 3 delivers an exhilarating gameplay experience with top-tier visuals and solid mechanics, though its brief length and somewhat muddled narrative hold it back from true greatness.

Bland and tedious

Unfortunately, it's the worst game in the series and the game that ended the series. The story and gameplay are worse than the second game in every way. Unfortunately, it's the worst game in the series and the game that ended the series. The story and gameplay are worse than the second game in every way. Even if you play it with low expectations until the end, it's too boring to finish. I tried it again after many years but I couldn't last long enough to finish it. It's amazing how they managed to make it so boring even though the game is so short. The only good thing about the game is the graphics, but good graphics alone are not enough to make a game playable and they are getting old. If you played the second game, you won't lose anything if you don't play the third.

Pretty Good

Finally finished all the Crysis games and have to say 2 is still my favourite. Not sure why still but 3 is certainly a good time. I much preferred fighting the human enemies though I don't know why exactly but I felt the gameplay with ceph just did not interes me at all.

Intro and Outro Were the Best I have ever seen in a chronology game.

The story was a mess in crisis 2, so they focused on one character and did it really well.

The story arch from the 1st and 2nd are thrown out of the window, but this game itself developed some impact with the way things are taken and the cutscenes.

Pros:

  1. Really well-done story compared to the prequels.
  2. Good Weapons, Especially the Bow, played the entire game using a bow in excess use. I like archery story arches.
  3. The Voice of the suit and cut scenes delivered the necessary impact.

Cons:

  1. After a few missions the Ai of enemies becomes repetitive and boring.
  2. The story arch besides prophet is nonexistent and not impactful. don't even know why psycho, rash or claire are there besides the one scene where they all gather and pray for alpha ceph(kidding).
  3. The weapons of the ceph are crap, but can't win some rounds without them.
  4. I Played at the greatest difficulty but still felt this game is too generic because of the way enemies attack and lost interest in playing when the missions started including ceph.

Really Great game, to play once or twice, but compared to some other shooting games this pales in disappointment. but in the chronology, this is the best one yet.

Already played this game like 5 times till now. but won't play this again.

Favorite Missions:

  1. Welcome to Newyork: Train Yard.
  2. Root of All Evil

Edit 2024:

played on rtx 4060 amd 7700x
Played this game in new pc with all settings deced out, with remastered in 1080 still getting like 30fps in grass locations and getting 180fps in normal gameplay still like the sniper and bow combo with all the enemies compared to previous 3 games this one felt good when playing on highest difficulty, which makes this fun and i understood the mechanics too well.
still though without understanding the mechnanics beating the final alpha ceph level is tough, half the time i hacked the turrets with aliens and they took care of smaller ones while i kept my focus on big alien.
fun to play but once the story is complete the game looses its mechanics. still this is the great story and starting and ending i have seen in any game i played till now.

Inhale. Hold it in your lungs. A tone spawns between your ears. As the tone progresses in intensity, you exhale. Now, taking the dive, your brain/Xbox 360 whirs with the maximum force of its operating system. In a moment, you die, and are floating through true vacuum, the sensation of near-zero Kelvin all the way through the nerves in your bones. And then... You find yourself in control of a biomechanical supersoldier body. There is a confusing blast of subplot about aliens and nanomachines. What does it matter? You are in command of a visceral lucid dream, where you can carefully and patiently control this body with superhuman grace and power, lubricated by a steady supply of pure bliss.

Your 10 Minutes is up. Back to business, human.

I played this on EA Play, and exclusively on the single player campaign only. The graphics and gameplay are still top notch, and I feel that the game mechanics have improved a lot since Crysis 2. However, the introduction of the bow, and how silenced weapon no longer deplete your cloak energy, have made stealth too over-powered. Along with some of the suit upgrades for stealth, you can even stealth kill every single enemy in the area without breaking a sweat. This had made the game too easy for stealth missions. The visor is finally very useful. And I'd say, it had become too useful, to the point that abusing the visor had made the game into easy mode. The shooting and action are pretty enjoyable, and the enemy design are finally more fair. Enemies that are annoying to kill in the previous games are still here, but this time they are easier to kill because you can approach them in multiple ways now. The plot doesn't make any sense. Although the game plot standalone in itself is okay-ish, it doesn't really fit the sequels at all. At first I thought this is like a pre-sequel to Crysis 2, until the end only I realize it is a sequel. It makes no sense at all but this is still a very enjoyable game.

I thought it was a really great game. The character you control has a suit on and with that suit you can do several things like cloak, enable nano vision and put on a shield. There are several other things you can do like modifying your weapon and chose the bullets you want to use. I liked how there was a lot of things you could do, and how it was still easy and not anyhow confusing to use all these features. The graphics were great in my opinion and I liked the story too. Overall, I think that if you like shooter games, this won't disappoint. I played Crysis 2 as well and when I started this 3rd Crysis-game I also noticed a nice improvement: In the beginning there is a training mission. I wish they had that in Crysis 2 as well, because I have to admit, when I played Crysis 2 for the first time, I found it a little confusing. The bosses in this game are not too difficult and not too easy, so they are perfect in my opinion. (I really dislike super-tough bosses that take a million hours to defeat). I had a great time playing this game.

Crysis 3

8.5/10
