A great mixup of X-COM esque gameplay and a nice soundtrack keep this game fun to play through the whole experience. Pretty challenging but nothing too hard to tackle imo. Recommend using a mouse and keyboard for this one as precise aiming is what this is all about.

Muito bom, impossivel achar um steamworld ruim, apesar da gameplay diferente dos seus pares é uma gameplay muito divertida e unica

Gameplay is great, its turn-based 2D combat with guns. But instead of Xcom where you direct your characters you yourself aim your fighters weapons manually. If youre good you can manage some insane trickshots with ricochets.

Enemy variety is good and you have a boatload of weapons and items to try out. Best thing are your characters, each has unique abilities and fulfills a different roll. Our protagonist Piper is the stalwart captain, she can inspire teammates near her to do more damage or heal them with an upgrade which rewards smart positioning since clumped up characters are vulnerable to explosives. Sally is a besercer with guns that can shoot twice if she kills an enemy. With an upgrade she can trigger this ability unlimited times so good aiming and planning can lead to her wiping an entire enemy group.

Graphics are great. Not Red Dead 2 hyperrealistic great, but artstyle great. Image and Forms (the studio) has a great art direction in all of their games and this one is no exception.

Music is kinda subdued during levels, but I personally dont mind, its still good. The soundtrack was made by Steam Powered Giraffe (a very good fit) and in the ingame bars you can listen to their rerecorded songs. And the songs after defeating a boss just SLAP.

All in all, very good. I bought this game twice, on 3DS and Switch and you should too.

(Please make a sequel I would do very illegal things just to get it)

Had a BLAST!!

No real complaints about it, its a simpler x-com but with a side-scroller view similat to Terraria but more zoomed in, def had my fav guys (Ivanski, Valentine and Payout) but i could see ways to enjoy all of them.

Only thing that hurt my experience is my fault...well Nintendo's fault, constantly having to fight with the camera due to drift.

Reason for four stars instead of 5 is it was starting to get a bit boring at the end (last "zone") due to its simplicity

Oh I should add one of the things I really enjoyed and kept me from getting bored quicker was the fact that it was turn-based (always my pref for single player games) BUT you get to aim in real time, reminds me of Valkyria Chronicles which I love but I like his better since you can think about it instead of trying to smack buttons as fast as possible so you dont get vaporized whilst moving/firing. Much prefer slow tactical thought to "twitch" mechanics and this game executed that PERFECTLY!

I liked this quite a bit Image & Form continues to take weird chances on their games and this is another one in that lineage. In a twist that I haven't seen this is a strategy game but instead of top down tiles ala Disgaea, it's 2D side view like a Metroid. The added wrinkle of being able to aim your character shots and ricochet bullets off the environment into your enemies adds an engaging element to the combat. It's in the steamworld I guess multiverse where all characters are robots but instead of the high fantasy themes in Quest, this is space frontier in nature. The characters and world is charming even if the story is simple. Plus you get a lot of hats to put on your robots. The levels are designed for anywhere between 1-4 characters to go in, and I think there were too many only 1-2 character missions down the stretch especially since there is a large roster of recruitable robots on your ship I wanted a full team to go in. Overall though very enjoyable.

WormWorld XCOM. In case it isn't clear that's a good thing

I love the SteamWorld series so much. Heist is nothing like Dig 1 or Dig 2 with the exception of some story and tonal hooks, but it's clearly made with the same love and skill.

The gameplay works out to be something akin to Worms meets XCOM. The result is a strategic turn based shooter that has you bouncing shots off of walls, destroying cover with grenades, and outflanking enemies for the perfect shot

It's an addictive loop, and it remains fun throughout the surprisingly long campaign.

Right up my turn-based alley

Low-pressure, colorful turn-based antics, with a minimal story line and likeable robo-characters. I liked the small size of the missions, the way items and special abilities affect combat and the fact that most levels were randomly generated. Definitely recommend this for strategy fans or players not too accustomed with turn-based strategy

I must have played this for 6-8 hours a day for 6 days straight.

XCOM meets Worms.

Good looking 2d steampunk robot universe, soundtrack by Steam Powered Giraffe, less frustrating than XCOM, because there is no RNG in this game (and you can do some crazy ricochet shots off most walls).

I really like the new spin on turn based strategy games. Wish there were more out there like this. I really like the new spin on turn based strategy games. Wish there were more out there like this. I liked the story for a while but in the third act it turned into a cliche, "bad guy with super weapon you have to steal before it's too late". Ironically the enemies in the later stages are interesting to fight, but thematically boring (they are also unlike the rest of the previous characters you meet).

Overall I like the gameplay and the bad guys die in very satisfying explosions.
