It is a pretty awesome RPG, it really felt that the world was talking to you and interactions were meaningful, and just talking to friends it seems like things I thought were "100% gurantee to happen on any playthrough" are not actually gurantee which is really cool to see, minor deviations that don't seem to impact the end that much …

The subject matter was super unique and interesting, but sometimes it just went over my head. I feel dumb. specially when they start throwing all these made up names. I liked the brain map concept but I am not sure I fully understood it or how the concepts you internalize really associate with 1) the question being asked 2) the solution 3) the bonuses. I wish the brain map stuff had more of an impact on the world or the way you interact with i rather than straight up bonuses
Loved the way that narration was done, different parts of you talking to each other or yourself. Really curious to see how different things play out with different skills.
Without going with the spoilers, the ending felt like it lost steam, a lot of questions unanswered or "that's it?" type of answers. It could be that i missed a clue or two through out and why i got the ending I did, but I would argue the ending should at least feel "good" and "meaningful" regardless. Very minor nit pick.

After some search on “how to get into Disco Elysium”, I restarted the game with Sensitive profile. I got better in some early dialogues but I got bored again after 3, 4 hours in, to the extend that I fell asleep a few times 😥 Should I stick to the game or drop it? People really love this game and I have been looking forward to playing it for more than a year.

I binge-played this game the other week and completed it twice. I haven't got my feelings on this game in order yet (a journaling exercise for later), but the one thing I am sure of is this: Kim Kitsuragi is the platonic love of my life.

This game is a wellspring of abtract nouns with new takes.

You can also shoot a child in this game albeit a very difficult check is required. This game is unhinged.
The ideas should cause indignation but the volumes of texts to read, how unimportant they are to the story and how abstract most of the terms are result to players letting off those wild ideas into the bin.

Sounds like the follow-up to Disco Elysium that they began work on is still getting made at ZA/UM, but it’s unclear to me if it’s in the same universe or just a totally separate thing.
I doubt we’ll get the full story on this anytime soon, so better not to speculate too much, but hopefully we’ll see more from them under a new name at some point.

I'm thinking on pulling the trigger on Disco Elysium for the switch (I have no other platform to play it with). Any objection on that?

Okay so I played this for three more hours in one go and I think it’s starting to get its hooks into me now. This game definitely benefits from longer play sessions.
I still can’t help but role play as myself (i.e. a boring fence-sitter with no particularly strong opinions on much of the subject matter presented), but amusingly the …

I still can’t help but role play as myself (i.e. a boring fence-sitter with no particularly strong opinions on much of the subject matter presented), but amusingly the game seems to have picked up on it and has gently teased me for it.

I'm 8.5 hours into this and I still don't really know what the hell I'm doing. It's interesting—certainly interesting enough that I want to keep playing it—but I wouldn't say it's properly grabbed me yet. I've never really played a CRPG so I'm not sure if this was a poor first choice?

I know the super weird character attributes are part of the charm of the game, but I'm finding that they're making it difficult to actually role play; I don't really know what sort of character I want to be based on the paths provided. There's nothing I feel particularly drawn to, and I'm simultaneously worried that every time I spent a skill point I'm wasting it on something useless. I'm hoping a sense of it comes with time, though it's entirely possible that I'm just too dumb to fully appreciate this game. I'll report back after the next 8.5 hours.

Nice art direction, solid concept. Writing has flashes of brilliance (phone booth and building intercom dialogues are both haunting), though quite purple overall. Voice-overs are unbearably slow and often grating. Quest journal is so buggy as to be unusable. Ultimately, the progressively flabby narrative combined with way too much repetitive map traversal--fast travel would really improve UX--made gameplay a chore.
