This entry is definitely the “black sheep” of the series and I can see why. The game makes some odd design choices across the board: the UI changes, the English voice actor replacements, the shift in battle dynamics. Unfortunately, most of these decisions don’t quite land.
It doesn’t help that the game feels noticeably shorter than its predecessors, and story progression is slower than expected. It works as a buffer installment, setting up future events, but pacing issues are hard to ignore.
The storytelling also stumbles at times. While there’s plenty of foreshadowing, some long-standing questions from Episode 1 remain unanswered, making the narrative feel like it’s spinning its wheels. That said, it was still enjoyable to see the continuation of the story and the ambitious ideas the developers tried to implement, even if they fell short in execution. The passion behind the project is evident, and despite its flaws, it left me wanting to see how this saga concludes.
Loved the cinematics, by the way! Great direction there, you could see there was a lot of love put into that aspect of the game.
