Finished in under 2 hours, played back to back with Postal Redux. Got the "Z for Zachariah" achievement.

A mindless shoot-them-up game for the whole family
This game is nothing more than shooting people in the face, burn them, blow them up and pump their whole family full of lead. Easy and mindless but fun in a strange way.

This game is nothing more than shooting people in the face, burn them, blow them up and pump their whole family full of lead. Easy and mindless but fun in a strange way.
You can play the campaign where you rampage trough different parts of the town, each time with a mandatory kill requirement. There are also many challenges you can complete. So, for its time, and still today, it is a huge game.
The game looks good for its time, the graphics and psychics are really well done, and the animations are fluent.
The sound is also surprisingly good with the constant moaning of dying people, the explosion sounds and the screams of people who are on fire. Yes, I can say this quite casually now because I also finished Postal 2.
For the time, this game was one big scandal and I can totally see why. Nowadays it is nothing more than a big shooting gallery where your only goal is to murder as much of the population as possible.
The reason I recommend this game is because the achievements make it fun to play. Normally after killing a whole neighborhood I am done with the game but the fact that you can achieve something makes it fun. Except for the “one million bullet achievement” of course, that one was sadistic.
Overall, it is free now so if you have a sadistic mood and some time to spend, give it a try.

It was then when I understood this game, because you do not kill to achieve a certain aim like in any other shooter (even in Doom the enemies seem to be just 'in the way' to the exit) but just for the mere purpose of pleasure to kill. This is the purest 'Killerspiel' of them all and has historical value, but the isometric style and poor art style makes it little immersive and hardly enjoyable.

Of course by today's standards it's not much more than what you could play online for free and it's hard to properly judge a game that came out in 1997 when I was 3 and not playing a lot of games about senselessly shooting civilians. But there were definitely enough different weapons and things going on to keep my attention, and I enjoyed the goofy things like shooting ostriches and the guy who says "Stop shooting you bastard, I'm already dead" when you kill him. It's a short game but worth a play if you enjoy revisiting older games, especially since it's free on Steam.

Shrug.
Not seeing it. Maybe at the time it was impressive and probably the controversy fueled sales, but is there any reason to play Postal in {current year} for someone without nostalgia? I'd say no.

Without the word "go" in front of it, Postal just means mail-related
I wondered why i didn't like this back in the day so i gave it another spin. I think i made it about a minute in before the controls drove me bonkers. Oh god, and the graphics. Ugh.
