This is where Roberta Williams stops re-using the Adventure formula and really starts spreading her wings. There’s a ton of new, bizarre, ambitious ideas, from the magic book (I found it so much fun) to the fast travel map. And there’s also some cool reinventions from the past: with the dwarves from Adventure that become the pyschotic wizard that torments you twelve years before Mister X in Resident Evil 2. Also, the King’s Quest soap opera style intergenerational narrative really begins here. It’s lovely and so much fun, even though it’s a Sierra game from 1986, so it’s mean and punitive.

This popped up in my recommended videos on Youtube the other day. And it's actually an interesting speed run video! :) Lots of cool tid bits about this often overlooked game.
