I recently bought an external CD drive for my new computer and installed this fine game. Previously I played the game in college and a little after. Then I started having dreams about C&C so picked it back up on my new computer. I was surprised it was compatible with Windows 8 because the game is a good ten years old. Anyway, on to the actual review.
If you've played previous installments of C&C you'll notice a lot of the same. Assigning group numbers to units is convenient and the new units such as drones and snipers help immensely. In zero hour you can play as a general who has different strengths and weaknesses. My personal favorites are the USA air force general and super weapons general. The latter allows the construction of advanced power plants to fuel your super weapons. Other perks include EMP patriot base defense missiles and special bombers. Along with the bonuses are limitations such as no tanks. In skirmish mode there are achievements and at the end of each battle (like older games) there are statistics.
Campaign mode awesome with lots of cinematic cut scenes and acting and the missions are well constructed.
The difficulty is adjustable. Easy is way too easy, medium is good and hard is challenging.
Not sure how many people still play the game, so online play may be difficult. I just play against the computer, it's still fun. Overall I strongly recommend this game. Replay value is high with lots of strategic gaming fun.
