Wind waker is so much fun. All the different islands each hold secrets and the boat is so satisfying to navigate. The dungeons are so fun and the items are unique from a lot of the other items in the series. The music is beautiful to listen to and the atmosphere is enjoyable.

It's interesting to see the seed of many of the elements that I liked in BOTW. The organic gameplay of setting fire to things, or using the leaf to attack and to propel yourself on a raft.

There's also the elements I didn't like from BOTW: the complete non-story and non-characters. Although Link's expressions make him more of an actual person and less of an empty mannequin pretending to be a person like in BOTW.
And also there's the thing many BOTW detractors missed: the linear dungeons. These I also don't like as much. It's fine but too game-y for my taste.
But my overall feeling is generally positive. I'm not blown away as with BOTW, but the gameplay is swift and engaging and the art-style is gorgeous (even the GameCube version is beautiful even by today's standards).

I love the cartoony style and bold colours. I hate the whole A is B and B is A thing that Nintendo has going on.

Through the Stone Temple now. I’m still enjoying the game, I’m loving randomly sailing around and just finding stuff to do all over, but the escort mechanics are damn annoying.

Got through Old Hyrule today and reclaimed the Master Sword. This game is stunningly beautiful. I think this is as far as I got on my last playthrough, so I'm going into territory I've only seen once before, and I'm excited to see what's next!

I got my sail this morning and nearly got through Dragon Roost Island, but didn't quite have time to finish it. That dungeon, though, is one of my absolute favorites in the franchise. The atmosphere is amazing, thanks in large part to the lava that's just everywhere, I love that you move back and forth between inside the volcano and scaling the outside of it, using the ability to cut ropes as a mechanic is fantastic, and the grapple hook is an awesome item to unlock!

I finally got a Wii U at a garage sale this weekend and it included Wind Waker HD. As a die-hard Ocarina of Time fan, I hated the change in art direction at the time and barely gave Wind Waker a moment to prove me wrong.

Thankfully, the rest of the internet has shown me that it's a good game and now I've spent about an hour really enjoying the art direction and the intro gameplay. It reminds me of Ocarina in the best ways.
My kids are really enjoying it so far and I look forward to giving them the controls as we get deeper into the story.

The gyroscope might be the death of this game. Already the first two boss fights have been almost unbearable because of it.

Finished. What a roller coaster towards the end. Ganon's Tower had the perfect level of malevolence and dread going for it. I plan on writing a review soon.

I'm on the search for the Triforce. My understanding in that I'm nearing the end. 3 years in the making!
