I finally got through Tomb Raider I and now I'm on to the game I grew up with, Tomb Raider II. As a kid, I never got pass the Great Wall level because I was afraid to fight humans, but I played the crap outta Croft Manor & helped my dad get through the game by reading the guide book.

Lara Croft, the reason there's an endangered species list. enter image description here

After awhile, I do start feeling bad about all the gorilla murder.

Man, booting this game up is a hit of nostalgia dopamine. I'd seen videos of people playing reviewing it, but it's something different being in the driver's seat.
The modern controls will take some learning. enter image description here

Still bugged on on Main Game New Game Plus but I finished Unfinished Business without healing – that has to account for something!

WIP for 100% because overfed

That all being said, man, TR1 is a master piece. Everything is so fucking atmospheric. The music is top notch, the whole concept is genius. The level design is right on Dark Soul's trails! Regardless, finding these forgotten places just feels so so good. My favorite level is the Colosseum, though. (the DLC shows how you could fuck the whole concept up but the base game masterly combines puzzles, exploration, and awe).

There is a personal involvement for me here as well: The guy who looked after me as a kid was a Tomb Raider fanatic. We played all the time. When he finished the game, he immediately started over this time: not using health packs. Next time: don't get hit. Next time: don't use weapons. So we played Tomb Raider for years and it resulted in me feeling always the urge to 100% a game. Otherwise it's not fully experienced.

My friend passed away a few years ago, therefore, I always wanted to revisit the Tomb Raider series in his honor. I was not blinded by nostalgia, these games are good. Determined to 100% every one of them (once my TR mojo is back)

Currently playing a New Game Plus run with all collectibles but only found 50/51 in Atlantis+. Is this still bugged on Switch? No update yet?

There's no physical edition? I wanted to buy this as a birthday gift for someone 😔

Having bought and untouched every TR on sale at some point... maybe now would be a good time for me to dig it out of the backlog before visiting the remaster.

I've got a puursonal supawser.

Enjoying being able to play these on deck with no effort

I love that this let's you flick between the original and the remaster within a moments notice. Such a nice feature, I'd love to see it implemented like this in more games.

Some of the remastering in this is not great but this is an excellent option.

They have added sky lights into the game as well and they make the world of difference .

Also someone put work into remodeling midas' feet. Like booooi

Very cool of them to add all these quality-of-life options and updates, while still allowing the games to be fully playable as they were originally. It's the sort of re-release I like to see (assuming of course the final product runs smoothly, without new glitches and so on).

Well, this is cool. I hope they give us the option to use the analog sticks, because the tank controls are one reason I can't go back to these old games.
