Detana!! TwinBee is a vertically scrolling shoot 'em up game following the same conventions established in the original TwinBee, where players assume the role of Light and Pastel taking control of TwinBee and WinBee across seven levels to defeat invading forces of the evil alien Iva and save planet Meru. It was later re-released on PlayStation and Saturn as part of Detana TwinBee Yahho! Deluxe Pack, PlayStation Portable as part of TwinBee Portable, and Xbox 360 and PC through Game Room service.

Short, fun and well done but not much new

enter image description here Detana is a Solid SHMUP. I like Twinbee series. its' different frantic and challenging and has a cool upgrade system that is imo what makes the game. The Turbografx 16 version is even harder than the NES due to a lot of clever enemy units. It has some creative boss fights. Stages have unique looks. But overall the Playstyle and mechanics is similar to original, if not the same. Music and sound has some familiar famicom konami-klick type old school sound but sounds decent enough. enter image description here bad things It's understandably short, its also a bit unreasonably hard imo. It's not a large leap beyond the simple nes formula, its tough to reccomend it since its an oldish and aged take on a game thats QUITE old. It is however on the other hand, a much nicer version of that game. enter image description here I played the T16/PCE and Saturn version of Detana (above) back to back. I personally like the look of the PCE, and think it sounds better (the Saturn has nicer quality of sound but it isnt mixed as nicely together, if that maks sense) Playing the game it admittedly feels a bit smoother of the saturn version.
