It's certainly got a style, with gallons of blood, tearing enemies in half, the only 3D brawlers I know with the same level of violence are Nano-Breaker and that Altered Beast game that's only in Japanese. The extreme themes feels somehow try-hard, like how the Terror Mask's edgy attitude is portrayed by the fact that it swears, or how you're opponents all generic looking hunks of flesh/bone matter. It's blood-baths all sort of blend together and feel the same, laking the distinction the older games did (which had way more going on than just gore, think of the underground levels for instance) So we have a cool style executed with mediocrity to complement out mediocre mechanics, but at least it doesn't do anything outright wrong or boring.
For those interested in it that come from a love of older the games. It completely breaks the lore and feeling of the older games, like a Holleywood remake.
