My first expansion pack, or DLC as the kids say, for the original Sims was also the very first pack to be released. At the time it was an easy sell to pitch before mom, seeing as we already had the base game and “LOOK! New items, jobs and characters, and No one can play this unless they have the first Sims!” Cashinngg.
‘Livin’ It Up’ or ‘Livin’ Large’ in America (because, large) also added more lots to build on, which before was always an issue in a household of five, sharing one family computer - where everyone wanted to start off a fresh file at all times…but never really delete your old ones. No longer a problem.
There was some major new items in this, like the electric guitar, chemistry set, and the magic lamp to name a few. As a pack it delivered and I remember it being worth the money…even though I didn’t pay for it. At this point, in August of 2000, I don’t think we’ve discovered skins off the internet just yet, but that would soon change the game, literally, even if they were more janky and less interactive than the official stuff released by Maxis. Anyway.
